Once the hundreds of new apartments go in downtown, we will have hundreds if not thousands of more people using the sidewalks and the streets each day. We will need to improve sidewalks, traffic lights, streets, parking areas, traffic flow etc. It might be bad now, but its only getting worse, unless we start planning accordingly, and, unfortunately, spending a lot more than we do now. But we can’t stick our heads in the sand. Now that we have chosen to be a city, we need to start acting like one.
This new little city will be a mess. All the planning has been poorly done and consequences will appear soon. Ridgewood is on the way to becoming the next Englewood. Those we will pay for this horror are the taxpayers who still own a home in Ridgewood. It is a tragedy really for a once really nice place.
One thing is for certain, accidents will increase unless the good people who enforce our laws show a greater presence on foot and on patrol. The excessive speed which driver make their way through the main and back streets is alarming. And to think that we could solve two problems, safety and increasing town revenues by ticketing offenders, if our police department would enforce the laws on the books….
many of the main roads are county based and 1) we don’t have the greatest working relationship with them and 2) they work at a snails pace so don’t expect anything new anytime soon. The Master Plan will fix all of it LOL and false promises will be made right in time for 2020 elections. This according to my magic 8 ball.
I assiduously avoid the CBD….
If they don’t restore two lanes in each direction at the underpass by the train station VERY VERY SOON (by the fall would be good) it is going to become nearly impossible to shut it down during construction and traffic will become more of a nightmare than it is now. It is going to cost a fortune but the need to remove the idiotic bike lane and revert to two car lanes in each direction was clear and inevitable from the day they announced the project that messed it up. Aronsohn must be laughing hard as he must always have known this would simply mean more contract $$$ for the construction unions who financially supported his political rise.
Yep, thanks to Mayor Airbag and Deputy Dog Pucciarelli for all they did for us. Nice job boys!
Don’t forget girlfriend Gwen. What a disgrace she still is
Maybe if the cops started patrolling streets instead of 3 cars and cops at a time plus a ticket officer hanging around van este square trying to catch some poor old soul who needs an extra 1/2 hour in town and puts an extra quarter in the same meter, these cops can be catching speeders. The tickets are higher but the cops are lazy
