Bike Lane Traffic Easing Ridgewood

The Bike Lane needs to go. And regardless of what Mr. Ruthishauser says and our past VM, we had two lanes at that location which worked very well for the previous 40 years that I have lived in town.

  1. Yes the VC will replace the bike lane with the new bus lane.

  2. Always knew it would have to go. Cost should be supplied by a “grant” from Aronsohn, Rutishauser, and the company that built it (hire someone else this time, please). What a stupid, stupid idea it was. Ask any 10-year-old or any village resident. Ugly, too! Trifecta: ridiculous idea, ridiculous price, ridiculous result.

With lampposts inserted down the widened (hideous) divider, there will be electricity to deal with when it’s all ripped out and replaced with a narrower one–which must be high enough and strong enough to prevent cars from going into the opposite lanes. It always worked before. Every available inch of width is needed and must be restored.

Might be a good idea to handle this during the summer.

  3. just ignore it.

  4. what a waste of money,

  5. That’s EXACTLY what I have done since it was installed…completely ignore it. The frickin morons who put this in should be paying to have it taken out!

  6. They are confusing. Fortunately I have never encountered a biker on that stretch of road.

  7. The bike lane is not confusing, so I’m not sure why it’s such a challenge for you. I’ve biked that stretch myself, and while it’s not pleasant, I support it being there.

  8. I think it is dangerous and for the amount of bikers that go thru there, just a waste of money, space and creates more traffic. Cars use that road more than bikers even with the dopey bike lane.
