I live on Grove Street. Cars and heavy trucks thunder by from 6am to 6.30pm. Speed limit enforcement is sporadic and has no discernable effect. This is a year long problem. What’s this got to with leaf collection? Read on. I try to minimize encroaching into the street with my leaf pile for obvious reasons. The collection schedules are not met and the traffic blows the leaves back on to my property. I carefully rake them back into the street. The collection schedules are not met. Traffic blows them back. I carefully rake them back into the street. When the leaf collection crew finally shows up (unannounced), they do not rake or vacuum up the leaves that have been blown back. Solution: just cut out this sorry excuse of a service and reduce our property taxes by the equivalent cost of a full landscaper service. And don’t get me started on having to clear my sidewalk of frozen snow that resembles cured concrete as thrown by heavy plows thundering by…

  1. I take my leaves out to the curb and then water them down. They’re not going anywhere after that.
Also you guy a leaf bags, fill them up, then throw them on top of the pile.

  2. Once again, there is NO leaf collection schedule. Just a schedule for YOU to put out your leaves. The leaves will be picked up sometime after that. I have a big, deep piece of property, aton of leaves and live on a major street . . . I generally bag them (at least from the back) and take them over to the recycling center; it’s just easier for me. I get bags from the recycling center and reuse them throughout the season. If I put them out at the curb, I will try to put leaf bags on top to keep them from blowing. And reducing taxes will NEVER cover the cost of a landscaper . . . and where would the landscapers put the leave…. in the street.

  3. From what we see is the village needs to shut down the road ‘s that they are working on. Why too dangerous keeping the road ‘s open while picking up leaves. The village is will be totally responsible for any Accidents that happen. We seen other towns shut road ‘s down when doing leaves, midlandpark, Hohokus ,and others, we live on racetrack rd , and it’s works. The village don’t even put out road cones or street safety barriers. Why not even police traffic cars. Why not. Can someone give us all an Legitimate reasons . We think the mayor and municipal management need to develop a strategy safety program in place. Because obviously they don’t have one in place.

  4. Especially when they’re picking up leaves around. You mean wow we the taxpayers will be paying the lawsuit.

  5. Stop whining or move?

  6. I don’t I think my fello residents are whining they just concerned. And we feel SAFETY should be first. And what we see every day it’s not. If any resident feels that safety is not Importance then they’re misinformed. Why would the village but themselves in this kind of position. Especially when Most accidents could be avoided if they had the proper signage, road blockage in order. This past Friday the village utilized Heavyweight trucks In the roads at the Christmas tree lighting to protect my fellow citizens. This was a great thing. We are very surprised that upper management would allow this to happen each and every day. Maybe they can utilize our Police Department.

  7. Well we the taxpayers pay the insurance company . Then the insurance company pays towards the lawsuit correct. Right.

  8. “Stop whining or move.”

Do we not hold elections of all kinds and at many levels to effect change for things small and large.

My Village, love it or leave it sentiment. What a dumb comment.

  9. You are a Tired Leaf racker because you do not have a leaf blower. Right .to bad for you.
