The cost of parking at the train station for residents is now 11.00 a day, 55 a week, 220 a month. That is not the cost of an annual parking pass just what you pay now as a resident. Almost double other towns. Also almost impossible for a resident to get a spot after 7am as out of town permits are also sold with no preference for residents. Traffic in the area is just awful getting in and out of the station with no easy pickup or discharge
Finally no overnight parking so god forbid you work at night or decide to stay in NYC for the night.
The change in Secaucus to get to midtown is ridiculous. RW has lost its role as a easy commuter station. Residents are neglected, trains are unreliable, the buses are problematic, parking is expensive, and village/school/ state taxes are a mess. Does anyone see this getting better or plans to address.
Where to go? Great question. But with kids out of schools, 35k in taxes, terrible and expense commute, 110k school budget with declining rankings and property values declining maybe the question is how soon to go ?
When many of my neighbors can appeal their taxes every year due to declining values is that a good indicator of our future values?
You wanted a garage, less park and more parking at the train station, and you voted for the current VC. And drew pictures of everyone who disagreed with this approach .. And now you are complaining… Someone needs to pay.
110 Million for schools ..insane..
wrong
NO ONE WANTED THE BUTCHERY TO THE TRAIN STATION FOR Non existent compact cars for millionaires to dream of parking on the former grassy knoll.VOR YOU DO IT TO YOURSELVES by electing fools hacks and realtors …no conflict there?…HA ! Off to a poor start and not even 2019 …watch for the wave of small shop and restaurant closures in January and February ..no lunch trade here..impossible business plan…outside of blatant subsidies offered by VC.
please stop the bull, where were your complaints when the porta-potty sat in the crab grass lot in the middle of the train station for 2 years , it looked like a total sh$thole , thanks to the silly suicide bike lanes and the dopy “traffic easing” , which virtually cut off the westside and continues to generate traffic jams and congestions
I love it I told you people to sell your house a few years ago and move out. This town is not getting better it’s getting worse. Move to Wyckoff.
PS call mahwah movers the best price around.
I so agree with the last comment. The train station debacle is wrong and won’t fix a thing. It might make matters worse as trying to squeeze a few compact cars in an already crowded area doesn’t amount to much except perhaps some fender benders and dings on side doors trying to exit the cars. Besides, I like the few remaining trees and so do the birds! And our costs for parking near the station really are exorbitant and in town we have made it all so confusing with different meters, rates, times etc. it is easier just to go elsewhere and that is sad.
anon is spot on
cottage place lot looks like a junk yard now with 350 Tin signs all pointing towards the
kiosk masquerading as an overgrown bush or fire alarm box.
Signs don’t hide the blight ..they create the blight.people are not idiots even those who come here to pay to shop …Glen Rock has the correct balance for commerce .Try it and compare.Great friendly merchants and barbers /vendors .easy in and out.no coins needed..free parking for store visits …go figure …if you change EM they won’t come…fools
You know what is amazing at the train station it’s a pretty cool old building that a dumbed a hole lot of money into it. They never replace the windows, they put plexiglass over the old windows can you imagine us. What a disgrace what a butcher job who is overseeing this job. Where the hell did all that money girl, don’t tell me it all went into the building because it didn’t someone made a lot of money what bullshit. It’s going to be the same thing with this new parking garage who is going to oversee it . If they’re saying that it’s going to cost 13 to 15,000,000 well expect and easily 500,000 for waist and prophets 4 million.
the train station was renovated by NJT (with Obmama “stimulus” money)at a cost of $40 million , NJT ended up working well with the Village to maintain the historic character instead of building a monstrosity like Secaucus, former Mayor Killion and Ken Gabbert deserve much of the credit , you should have mentioned the Village Hall wreck-a-vation which was a disaster and an enourmous waste of tax payers money
We need more parking at the train station end of story if you had a job you would know that
Bergen county is being destroyed by politicians like paul arosohn and all the developers who fund them
First – add the damn spaces at the train station right away. What is the delay???
Next – cancel the garage. Repave that lot and re-stripe it, reduce the access~egress curb cuts to just one or two. This will add a ton of spaces.
Next – reduce the cost of commuter parking passes. It is ridiculously high now (but not as high as Voigt had suggested when he laughingly said it should be $1500 because the people in Ridgewood could afford it).
Next – put parking at the lot behind Ben and Jerry’s where that old garage was. Plenty of space there and only a two block walk to the train station.
Next – make the meters stop at 6 PM once again. 8 PM is way too late. Also, please have FREE parking on Saturdays throughout the year.
Who cares….

I do admit that we have been forced to choose between “not very good” and “worse” at every election. Unfortunately, who in his/her right mind would choose to run for any office in Ridgewood? As a result we are having many very unpalatable projects being literally forced down our throats by our current and past rulers. I really can’t believe that there was no legal way to put a halt on at least some of the extensive construction that is beginning now but could have been stopped before this. “Follow the Money” has been the chant. It is entirely possible that some of our prior rulers had “ins” (such as the “quarter man” whom everyone knows would have to have been stealing dump truck loads and was covered up by some “officials” who helped steal the money.) But, Ridgewood pays highly for “our legal advice” which seems to have been short-circuited somewhere along the route to garages, housing, Schedler, etc. Someone, unless our legal advisors are also taking a cut, which I would prefer to doubt, knew what was happening, and that “someone” is getting his/her/their hands greased to allow Ridgewood to become totally bankrupted by “thieves in the know”.
I do admit is correct ..stink is too rank…for a few rogue players..and we have been played by this current crew…
