Reader says the Village needs to seize the agenda from the developers
Answer – we need parking AND common sense. Unfortunately with the team we have running the show, we’re unlikely to get either.
Until the Village seizes the agenda from the developers, we will be in a state of continuous reaction. Developers want to build huge buildings because they make more money that way. Certain citizens are not in favor of huge buildings. Developers then say that if they can’t build a huge building then they won’t build anything. Then other citizens say that the town is is disrepair and we need to do something so let’s just build the huge buildings because what other choice do we have?
Come to think of it, I’d settle for some common sense and will drive around the block looking for a spot in the meantime.
This is a great point- in the Garber Sq. repave/redesign debacle- we learned the “bike lane to nowhere” idea came out of a request from an out of town group of cyclists who said we needed a bike lane. Now we have a project that was started by non-tax payers and designed without any study on traffic impact or public comment. Even the village police said they never saw the plan until this May.
It is a lot to ask a volunteer team to make a master plan for development but it is easy to ask them to say “no” first then consider any changes to the Village.
I’m still looking for a parking garage of a design that can be profitable and practical and worth the “invest people” to invest “their money”.
By the way who owns that bank bldg. on the corner? After all, that location is important. Isn’t it?
Dom Pleased.
No we needs to seize the agenda from the THE THREE AMIGOS
Saraceno owns the bank. Held the Christie fundraiser there and invited previous council, who accepted. Saraceno wants to build monstrosity in old Seafons corner.
