Our engineer, Mr. Rutishauser, stated on Wednesday night, “it happens,” in reference to the failure of the generator. This was delivered with a shrug. Please, do not shrug this off as an unimportant, insignificant event. It is going to cost more than my annual pension to correct this mess. It is inexcusable that the generator was not tested on a regular basis.
Not knowing your generator is broken is completely preventable.
Do we not have a service contract on the generator? I work with several data centers, all with generators, and all with a company that services them on a monthly basis. Additionally, most, if not all commercial generators have monitoring hardware/software that continually check the basic functions and periodically do an automatic exercising and test of the engine.
I also don’t understand how a power failure can damage a facilty. Power coming back to quickly (a surge or spike) certainly can, but again, there are a multitude of ways to protect against that. I guess we don’t have those either. Amazing.
My generator at home comes on once a week.
There is a panel with a simple green light indicating proper functioning, or red if not.
One would expect the same from the facility.
“annual pension” ….who get’s a pension anymore? ….oh, of course…those on the public dole.
from what the d e p and e p a said that the plant is under staff at many times of the day. at night only one workers is at the site. is this true. how can this be safe, at one other plant in nj some one passed out and died from the fumes .
wake up and make the site safe. stop being so cheep.
some people think it’s all over when they flush the poop down the drain. that is just the start of it. so much more needs to be done to make it all go away.
The whole facility from what I’m told is in disrepair time the council opens there eyes
#1, stick to the topic.
and yet they would like to build a building on that site with glen rock, talk about a waste of money. fix what they have.
