Religious displays approved in Ridgewood

Council members this week approved a resolution that allows the placement of a menorah and other religious displays in Van Neste Square Memorial Park during this holiday season, from Nov. 25 through Jan. 3.
This resolution, made in response to the council’s recent decision to move forward with a public menorah display requested by a contingent of villagers, comes in time for Hanukkah, which begins Nov. 27 this year.
According to the resolution, approved during a special public meeting on Wednesday, holiday displays can be placed in an area in the northwest corner of the park facing the Oak Street and East Ridgewood Avenue intersection, in front of the Godwin Memorial.
