Village Watering in the Rain yesterday May 8th
Maybe it was just an oversight
If your address is an odd number, you may irrigate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays only. If your address is an even number, you may irrigate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays only. A handheld hose may be used at any time including Mondays.
This plan will be in effect each year starting on June 1st and will continue through August 31st. If conditions warrant, irrigation will be prohibited on additional days of the week up to and including a total ban on irrigation.
Compliance with the initial restrictions will reduce the likelihood that more severe controls will be needed. Your cooperation is appreciated.
If your inconsiderate neighbors with sprinkler systems had ‘rain sensors’ they wouldn’t be wasting water.
The only reason we have problems with the water capacity is all the lazy residents with automatic sprinkler systems installed.
Maybe try something unique. ENFORCE the rules and hit these offenders with fines. Every morning when I walk my dog the same lawns have been watered 7 days a week.
that was Vets field
Those automatic well water pumps, feeding Graydon and lowering the water table, makes it a lot move difficult, don’t you think ?
And where does the overflow treated water go? Right into the nearby stream……….. The problem just won’t go away…. will it?
Does this include the BOE?
Does this include the BOE? #1 is right on the money lazy people.
Okay guys, for the millionth year running, let me explain it to you again why we have these annual water restrictions.
1. It rarely has anything to do with water shortages. It does happen, but it’s rare.
2. Summer water use spikes significantly due to swimming pools and watering. It’s this heavy use that creates significant loss of pressure in the water supply, making fire hydrants unable to maintain adequate pressure.
3. We did have the opportunity to have big new tanks built that would have fixed this problem, but in typical Ridgewood fashion, they got voted down because they were considered unsightly (it’ the same deal with the crappy cell reception in Ridgewood and our lack of cell towers).
#7 Decian Harrison, You are right I recall lots of discussion about water pressure and of the visible view of the tanks “flowers foliage and etc.
Perhaps our new council members will review these kinds of ideas more closely next time.
Declan’s right, but it’s much more fun to blame the bad wasteful neightbors.
we have plenty of water.
They should put two big water tanks in your back yard Dom. So your neighbors can water their grass.
Valley has to to drain ground water for their below grade expansion plan and will require more water when they expand. Get ready to cough up more tax dollars to subsidize Valley.
Yawn. As usual, you’re off topic.
ground water is off topic??
Ground water at the proposed construction level has nothing to do with the supply of water in the artesian wells used for the water co that are hundreds of feet in depth in many different locations.
