Ridgewood NJ, the announced outcome of a roll call vote taken during Monday night’s Ridgewood BOE meeting has brought into question the legitimacy of the BOE’s roll call voting protocol.
Only 4 of the 5 BOE members were present for the vote, and 1 of the members present was required to recuse herself, leaving only 3 eligible to vote.
There were 2 “yes” votes and 1 “no” vote cast for the matter at hand. The Board Secretary announced that the matter had “passed.”
Since there are 5 members on the Board, a majority of its members clearly did not vote in favor of the matter. However, a majority of those present at the meeting and eligible to vote on the matter did approve it.
Should the matter at hand have passed or not? The Ridgewood Blog says NO. What say you?

The public should see and hear who the trustees are voting for.
End of story.
Mr Dani said he thought it was appropriate and within the rules. Mr. Schwarz said the attorney will review and they will retake the vote as needed. This is procedural maturation that will cost the taxpayers legal fees and waste staff time–it does nothing to help our kids at all. The “big outcome” will be re-voting and approving in 2 weeks. What a waste of time.
Astonishing how many times Mary Micale has to recuse herself and leave the room. Another example of the uneducated Ridgewood Voters that elect officials based on popularity.
A quorum could not be reached. No vote.
