Leaf Collection Schedule Including dates for leaves to be placed in the street
Ridgewood NJ, It is Village policy and a requirement for residents that all leaves must be placed directly in the street no more than 7 days prior to your scheduled pick up date. Please have your leaves in the street on the first day scheduled for collection. If you employ the services of a landscaper communicate these dates to them. No brush will be collected during leaf season. You may continue to bring leaves as well as brush to the Recycling Center. The hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Leaves can also be placed in paper biodegradable bags. Bags will be available at the Recycling Center on a first come, first serve basis. When using bags please place them on the curb area and they will be collected separately.
According to the Village Hall the most vocal comment heard from residents last year was on properties who did not comply with the schedule. Therefore enforcement will be vital to the Village’s success to improve this service. An enforcement agent NOW ISSUING SUMMONS to those that violate these guidelines.
As weather is a key component to this operation, if changes become necessary it will be posted on the Village of Ridgewood website. In addition you are encouraged to sign up for e-mail notifications via the Village website and to share this information with your neighbors. As a reminder, use caution when our leaf removal crews are on your block. When possible please take an alternate route to ensure the safety of all. Should you have any questions, please call the Street Division at (201) 670-5585.
IMPORTANT UPDATE ON LEAF COLLECTION DATES
This past week we have stepped up our enforcement efforts for leaf removal. As a result warning letters were issued to those homes which had leaves out not within the timeframe provided or too close to a storm drain. There seems to be some confusion as to when leaves are to be placed in the street. A clarification of the dates is as follows:
AREA A
Collection Date – Nov. 5 – 10 (Leaves MUST be placed in the street between Oct. 29 through Nov. 5)
Collection Date – Nov. 30 – Dec. 3 (Leaves MUST be placed in the street between Nov. 23 through Nov. 30)
AREA B
Collection Date – Nov. 9 – 13 (Leaves MUST be placed in the street between Nov. 2 through Nov. 9)
Collection Date Nov. 30 – Dec. 4 (Leaves MUST be placed in street between Nov. 23 through Nov. 30)
Collection Date – Dec. 14 – 18 (Leaves MUST be placed in street between Dec. 7 through Dec. 14)
AREA C
Collection Date – Nov. 12 – 18 (Leaves MUST be placed in street between Nov. 5 through Nov. 12)
Collection Date – Dec. 7-11 (Leaves MUST be placed in street between Dec. 1 through Dec. 7)
AREA D
Collection Date – Nov. 19 – 25 (Leaves MUST be placed in street between Nov. 12 through Nov. 19)
Collection Date – Dec. 14 – 18 (Leaves MUST be placed in street between Dec. 7 through Dec. 14)
With the heavy leaf drop upon us it is important that you have leaves out by the FIRST DATE of your scheduled pick-up. Leaves WILL NOT be picked up on all dates shown for pick up but rather during that timeframe. Your leaves will only be picked up ONCE during that timeframe. We will not go back to your street until your next scheduled day once we have picked up your leaves.
from what I see the crews did a great job in my sec. I’m on northern pky , job well done. thanks workers. and yes the leaves came done faster this year then last. hope the snow comes after the new year.
thank you mr& miss dan .
3 days behind in Area “C”
Three days behind in Area “C”
In area b they missed
No, they are not three day s behind in area C. Our pick-up is from Novemeber 12, – 18. It’s not November 18 yet. LEAVES NEED TO BE OUT BY NOVEMBER 12 , AT THE LATEST, SO THEY CAN GET PICKED-UP BEGINNING NOVEMBER 12. They most certainly started Area C on November 12 The problem is a whole bunch of lunkheads put their leaves out AFTER they were already picked up. The picked up Walthery on November 12 and the lunkheads living there put out HUGE piles this weekend AFTER THE PICK-UP.

The problem is people don’t read or don’t care; either way, the Village is not at fault this year. Communication stating that leaves should be out by the first day of pick-up has been clear. Stated timeframe for pick-up has been clear. I’m not sure how difficult this is to comprehend. Get ’em out before the first day of pick-up; if they’ve been picked-up already, you’ve got to wait until the next pick-up cycle.
Hey Roberta – when I called 670-5585, the person who answered the phone told me that area c is behind because the leaves were wet and heavy from last week’s rain. So maybe you should coordinante your story with who ever answers the phone at streets.
12:15 — I am a resident of Area C and I can tell you that Area C pick up began on schedule on November 12. I say them picking up leaves with my own two eyes on on my street on Thursday, November 12. They may not be working at the rate they anticipated; I didn’t see the vacuum truck out which may not be able to work with wet heavy leaves. Maybe they have to push the schedule out because of that but they most definitely were in Area C on November 12. So maybe that’s what they meant by “they were behind”??? And perhaps the answering the phone, IN AN OFFICE, is misinformed?
Not Roberta but I am an Area C resident and I can tell you that leaf pick up began, as scheduled, on the morning of November 12. Lots of front loaders out there although I did not see the vacuum truck. Perhaps the vacuum trucks cannot work when the leaves are wet and heavy. Perhaps that is why the Streets Department is behind schedule in Area C? Or, pehaps the person answering the phone, IN THE OFFICE, was misinformed?? Maybe a little thought before posting . . . being behind schedule does not mean they did not begin on time. It may mean that their productivity was not what was expected for that Thursday and/or Friday and they’ve fallen behind. I did, most definitely see lots of equipment out in Area C on the start date of November 12.
Okay Roberta.
Today is the last day for leaf removal in Area C. As far as I can see they haven’t even started in this area which means they are way behind schedule. Ask the question. Make them accountable.
To date 11/18, In my section Area C – big piles of leaves have Not been picked up yet between 11/12 – 11/18. Now, with rain and wind coming 11/19, it will be a repeat of last weeks rain and wind of 11/12-13 with wind blowing the piles leaves everywhere else all over everyone else’s lawns. Landscapers and homeowners have complied with the towns leaf schedule, and leaves are not picked up. Did see the vacuum truck yesterday on a main road, but that was it, they didn’t do the side streets. Haven’t seen the bucket loaders, sweeper, trucks here either yet. When call 201-652-5585 streets, get a Very fast busy signal?
