Ridgewood NJ, in a nail-biting finish, Harrison Cariddi’s crucial blocked extra point in the fourth quarter helped Ridgewood secure a 14-13 victory over Piscataway at home, keeping their undefeated season alive.

The visiting Chiefs (2-2) grabbed the lead with just under seven minutes left in the game, thanks to a 41-yard touchdown pass from Landon Pernell to James Bodley. However, Cariddi’s blocked PAT left the door open for Ridgewood (4-0).

With the momentum shifting, Ridgewood marched back down the field, capping the drive with Colin Burns’ 3-yard touchdown run. The extra point that followed put the Maroons back on top for good.

Ridgewood took an early lead in the first quarter when James Nugent punched in a 2-yard touchdown. Piscataway tied things up before halftime when Jahai Johnson, a New Hampshire commit, returned an interception 76 yards to the house.

Johnson had made headlines just two weeks ago when he tied a national high school football record with three kick return touchdowns in a single game.

This contest was the first meeting between Ridgewood and Piscataway since the 2018 North 5 Regional Championship, which Piscataway won 31-21, marking their record-setting 13-0 season. Ridgewood’s revenge this time around makes the win all the more sweet.
