Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood’s bravest were called into action Thursday night for one of the most heartwarming tasks in a firefighter’s repertoire: rescuing a stranded pet.
Shortly after 9:30 PM, the Ridgewood Fire Department (FD) responded to a call about a cat stuck on a steep rooftop in the 300 block of Franklin Avenue. The feline, affectionately named Bo, had become trapped on the pitched roof and was unable to climb down on its own.
Ridgewood firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and deployed ladders to safely reach the frightened cat. Their successful rescue effort brought relief to the pet’s worried owners and onlookers gathered nearby.
The Ridgewood Police Department (PD)’s Patrol Division also responded to assist with traffic control, ensuring a safe perimeter around the rescue zone while the operation was underway.
The Ridgewood Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 47 commended the team’s work, noting that animal rescues—though often overlooked—are an important part of the department’s community service mission.
Bo was returned to his owners safe and sound, with no injuries reported.
A Reminder of First Responders’ Dedication
This small but meaningful incident is a reminder that first responders go above and beyond—whether it’s a structure fire, medical emergency, or rescuing a family pet. Ridgewood’s firefighters and police officers once again proved their unwavering commitment to the community.
