  1. Nice job.
Another example of the critical response time saving a life.
Imagine the outcome if we had to wait for volunteers to answer a page, go to the garage, pick up an amubulance and eventually arrive at the scene. It would have been another DOA.

    1. There is zero need to criticize volunteer departments. Much of the care is initiated by the dispatcher providing instructions, a police department who rapidly arrives, als who is often quickly on scene, and then a bls who is career or volunteer who then transports.

What departments have you been involved with – you seem knowledgeable?

      1. He’s a Ridgewood fireman trying to justify his existence. Pathetic union flunkie who’s only recourse is to trash the dedicated volunteers.

        1. wrong. just an accurate comment & long time resident that knows response time is critical. Before you blessed us with your presence from NYC, the RPD had a walking ‘2 post’ officer that was picked up and delivered to headquarters to drive the old cadillac ambulance along with volunteers.. it DID NOT work out.. Btw, i dont expect a ‘thank you note’ with my school taxes that are subsidizing your kids in the schools.. but i’m guessing you didnt pass the test for a job

          1. No one has a clue what the purpose of your blind rant was intended. Stay focused and stay on topic – they had an excellent CPR save.

  2. Problem with Ridgewood is that this council said they didn’t have money to hire the cops this village needed. Only 1 out of 5 was agreed to. Ridgewood will be in trouble if we need more cops and we don’t have them-but they have no problem spending money on a sports field with artificial turf to the tune of over a million dollars when all is said and done. shows you where Ridgewood council majority puts their priorities, until something happens.

    1. Purchase a gun and learn how to use it.

  3. That’s not how the volunteers in Ridgewood worked. They were at their station and beat FD to our home. This is all propoganda so they can ask for more money for the union boys next year.

No more bloted salaries and absured pensions.

  4. The “volunteers” were well trained and were on stand-by at their dispatch station during their tours of duty. The “volunteers” were also a source of interest proving to future Doctors and paramedics. We had them several times at our house and they were prompt, as were the Police, and always beat the firemen who basically sat in their truck in case they were needed. Our grandson is now a Paramedic because he was a “volunteer”. And he also may be able to get a position he wants due to the fact he had been a “volunteer”. The worse thing Ridgewood did was to eliminate the “volunteers” in favor of a fire crew. And the Fire Department does admit that a fire takes priority and if a medical emergency arises at the same time as a fire, our residents will be treated by a “volunteer” from a neighboring town instead of a fireman. How is this considered forward progress and a “good thing”?
