RIDGEWOOD — The lack of parking in the village needs to be addressed if the central business district is to thrive.
That’s the conclusion of about 50 business owners, officials, developers and residents who attended a forum this week on the viability of the downtown.
While some residents suggested the need for a master plan update with others calling for a comprehensive approach to downtown planning, most who spoke Wednesday had parking on the brain.
Those at the forum noted that for decades the Ridgewood Council has spent money commissioning study after study on the village’s parking shortage, never to follow through with any recommendations.
“Parking here has been a sin,” said Jim Griffith, adding that local officials have spent the past 50 years merely weighing ideas for increasing parking spaces downtown. “There has been no change. It’s criminal, the way they’ve been dealing with parking.”

The solution to Ridgewood’s parking problem is simple and cheap –
There are many underutilized parking lots around, several of which aren’t used at all past 5 PM weekdays, nor on weekends. Fill those lots with evening & weekend restaurant goers and save millions on the construction of an UNNEEDED parking garage.
Never had a problem parking downtown at any time of day or night.
Abdoo for Mayor and Paul V. for Deputy Mayor. Who’s got a problem with that?
Whatever happen that group that had the signs out for a short time protesting the CBD development ? Were they just a flash in the pan or did someone get to them to ?
Pucciarelli lambasted those signs at a recent Village Council meeting. Many people were apparently intimidated by his comments and took the signs down.
WOW #5 thats all it takes. To lambasted by a narcissistic Council Person. Residents are to easy.
Obviously you have never been on the receiving end of the wrath of the deputy mayor. It is wild
