Ridgewood High School Alumni Makes 2021 NFL Pro Bowl

Ridgewood NJ, persistence and determination pay off for . The Atlanta Falcons kicker and former Ridgewood High School Football star and a graduate of Benjamin Franklin Middle School and Ridgewood High School was named to the 2021 NFL Pro Bowl on Monday night, a little over one year after being released from his second NFL team.

Younghoe Koo,  born in Seoul, South Korea, moved to Ridgewood as a child and played soccer as a youngster. He eventually became a placekicker and was a star on Ridgewood’s high school team, earning team MVP honors during his senior season.

Coming off a stellar college career at Georgia Southern University, Koo signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He won the kicking job, but was cut during the same year.

Koo did not let set backs stop him .After brief stints with the Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football and the New England Patriots back in the NFL, he signed with the Falcons in 2019.

The 26-year-old Koo has been perhaps the best kicker in the league this season, converting 35 of 36 field-goal attempts and 28 of 31 extra-point attempts.

    Koo’s game winning kick (44 yards) to beat Paramus on Thanksgiving was incredible…I think it was 2011.
