Ridgewood, NJ — A quiet residential street in Ridgewood briefly turned into Hollywood North this month as a Meadowbrook Avenue home was converted into a movie set for an upcoming Netflix production.
According to Carol Bialkowski, Director of Communications and Special Projects for the Village of Ridgewood, the house was outfitted with signage, lighting, and other production equipment as of August 13. While the name of the film could not be officially disclosed, Bialkowski confirmed that multiple scenes have been filmed in Ridgewood — including at Benjamin Franklin Middle School.
This latest set appearance comes just two weeks after Netflix filmed “Don’t Say Good Luck” at the middle school. The teen drama stars Sunny Sandler (daughter of Adam Sandler) alongside Steve Buscemi, Melanie Lynskey, and Max Greenfield. According to Deadline, the film follows a high school student cast in her school play who finds herself juggling even more drama at home than on stage.
While the Meadowbrook Avenue location was prepared for filming, Bialkowski said the planned scene ultimately did not take place and may have been cut.
Hollywood’s New Jersey Connection
North Jersey has quickly become a hot spot for film production, bolstered by $758 million in state tax incentives for the film and television industry under the Murphy administration.
Recent high-profile shoots include:
-
A Netflix movie starring Natalie Portman and Mark Ruffalo in Verona (July 2025)
-
Robert De Niro in Paterson for The Whisper Man (May 2025)
-
Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2, filmed across Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Somerset, and Monmouth counties in 2024
An official release date for Don’t Say Good Luck has yet to be announced.
