RIDGEWOOD, NJ — After years of traffic congestion, risky K-turns, and safety concerns, the Village of Ridgewood has teamed up with the Ridgewood Public School District to improve traffic flow near Ridgewood High School.
A brand-new roundabout has been constructed at the intersection of Beverly Road and Heermance Place, aiming to reduce backups and create a smoother, safer driving experience for students, parents, and residents.
Addressing a Longstanding Problem
The busy intersection has long been a trouble spot, especially during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup times. The roundabout is designed to keep cars moving continuously, eliminating the dangerous maneuvers that were common in the area.
Local officials and school administrators praised the collaborative effort, noting that the improvement was completed just in time for the start of the new school year.
A Safer Start to the School Year
“This has been a lingering issue for many years, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make it happen,” village representatives said. “The roundabout will not only improve traffic flow but also enhance safety for students walking to and from Ridgewood High School.”
Residents are encouraged to use caution as they adjust to the new traffic pattern, and drivers are reminded to yield to vehicles already in the roundabout.
