Village should not forget 9/11

to the Editor:

I was saddened that Ridgewood had no official recognition of one of the most tragic days in American history. We had 12 Ridgewood residents killed on that day: Sept. 11, 2001. Most towns in Bergen didn’t have as many, but they “remembered” with ceremonies.

  1. The Ridgewood Library had it’s usual display of photographs and memories.

  2. I believe that Village officials stopped holding an annual remembrance ceremony because the families of victims asked them to. Some families have moved away and others felt the ceremony was difficult emotionally for surviving children.

  5. During David Pfund’s term as Mayor, he made a public announcement of such during a Village Council meeting.
