Ridgewood NJ, for the second straight game, Ridgewood Maroons’ defense shutout its opponent . The second-seeded Ridgewood defeated seventh-seeded Columbia 34-0 on Friday in the NJSIAA/Rothman Orthopaedic North Jersey Section 1, Group 5 quarterfinals in Ridgewood.
The win followed Ridgewood’s 21-0 shutout of Hackensack to close the regular season.
Now 7-2, Ridgewood has won three straight and will host third-seeded Passaic Tech in next Friday’s sectional quarterfinal.
The Maroons have won four straight against Passaic Tech, including in each of the last two NJSIAA postseasons. Ridgewood beat Passaic Tech 10-7 to win the 2019 North Jersey Section 1, Group 2 title, and won 35-7 in the first round of the 2018 draw.
