Ridgewood Motorcyclist, 69, Dies After Weekend Crash in East Rutherford

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — A 69-year-old Ridgewood man was killed in a motorcycle crash over the weekend after being thrown from his bike on Route 120 North, according to East Rutherford police.

The deadly crash happened on Saturday, August 16, just after 2 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a downed motorcyclist, said Capt. Jeff Yannacone of the East Rutherford Police Department.

Crash Details

Police determined that the victim was riding a 2024 Royal Enfield Super Meteor when the motorcycle struck the curb while navigating a curve on Route 120.

The impact caused the rider to be ejected from the motorcycle and thrown into the guardrail, resulting in severe back injuries, authorities said.

Emergency responders from Hackensack University Medical Center ALS and Bergen County BLS transported the man to Hackensack Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Ongoing Investigation

Police have not released the man’s name pending notification of family members. The East Rutherford Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

    1. That was my brother. He’s not a moron. Police are still investigating still. My brother is a very safe person. This tragedy is stunning.

    2. I am sure that some people do ride irresponsibly, but I knew him well and I know he exercised all safety precautions. We are devastated about this terrible accident and his loss will be profoundly felt forever by his family and friends.
