After a summer of sitting in silence, Ridgewood residents will soon have their say.

The public hearing on four developers’ requests to allow construction of high-density, multi-family housing in and around the village’s Central Business District (CBD) is set to commence Dec. 3, a date selected by Planning Board members after they were presented with the first draft of a controversial master plan amendment. According to Gail Price, board attorney, a Nov. 5 meeting will be used for “housekeeping” purposes and to set up schedules for the applicants’ experts and witnesses.

Price and Planning Board Chairman Charles Nalbantian anticipate the hearing will take place at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, a larger venue than the courtroom at Village Hall. Final notice of the time, date and location will be advertised as well as posted on Ridgewood’s website.

  1. Just what Ridgewood doesn’t need. If you like the look of upscale multi family housing, move to Montclair or Hoboken.

  2. What has become of a public parking garage?

  3. God forbid you bring up priorities…
