RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A painting contractor employee was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon, August 12, after falling two stories from a ladder in the 100 block of Kenilworth Road, according to Ridgewood Police.
Authorities say the man, who works for a Hawthorne-based painting company, was perched on a ladder positioned on a lower roof when he lost his balance and fell to the ground. Emergency responders reported the victim sustained severe injuries in the fall.
Swift Emergency Response
Ridgewood Police Department’s Patrol Division officers, firefighters, and EMTs from Ridgewood Fire Department/EMS, along with a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital, rushed to the scene to provide life-saving aid. The injured worker was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson for urgent treatment.
OSHA Launches Investigation
Representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) responded to the scene to begin a formal workplace accident investigation, aiming to determine whether any safety violations contributed to the incident.
The worker’s identity and current condition have not been released as of Wednesday morning.

Es muy duro?
Poor man. Medium duty ladder on a pitched elevation, no footings, no ties, no harness.
Was he trained in safety, was he provided with the necessary equipment and didn’t use it?
We see so many local contractors walking on roofs and using ladders, all without any safety equipment.
Let’s hope he and his family can get through this.
they took him to Paterson?
Yup, no Ridgewood Valley Hospital any longer. There you go.
St joes has a very good trauma center.
I see the workers on wet roofs cleaning gutters without a harness. very dangerous.
OSHA should patrol Ridgewood in the fall and fine the companies that put workers at risk
