Ridgewood NJ , a late-night collision on East Ridgewood Avenue ended with no injuries but significant vehicle damage and multiple citations, Ridgewood police said. The incident, which occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, involved a black Honda CR-V and a dark blue BMW X3.
According to Ridgewood Police Department’s Patrol Division, the Honda CR-V was traveling westbound when it allegedly crossed the double yellow line, striking the eastbound BMW head-on. The Honda mounted a curb, narrowly missing a utility pole before coming to a stop, while the BMW spun out, with its rear slamming into a curb.
No Injuries Reported, But Five Summonses Issued
Fortunately, no injuries were reported by occupants of either vehicle. However, five summonses were issued at the scene in connection with the crash, police confirmed.
Passenger Attempts to Flee the Scene
In a surprising turn, a passenger of the Honda attempted to flee the scene in a rideshare vehicle. Thanks to an alert local resident who noticed the individual hiding behind a nearby tree and then entering the rideshare, a Ridgewood Police supervisor was able to intercept and detain her. Police have not released the reason for her attempted escape.
Emergency Response and Vehicle Removal
Members of the Ridgewood Fire Department and EMS (FMBA Local 47) responded to address a fluid spill and evaluated a BMW occupant for possible injuries, though none were ultimately reported. Both heavily damaged vehicles were towed from the scene by a local towing service.
