Ridgewood NJ,  the Ridgewood Village Council has officially proclaimed the week of May 18 to May 24, 2025, as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, during a council meeting held on May 14.

This year marks the 51st anniversary of National EMS Week, celebrated under the theme “We Care for Everyone” — a reflection of the unwavering dedication and service of emergency medical professionals across the country.

Honoring Ridgewood’s First Responders

Ridgewood’s emergency medical services are provided by the dedicated men and women of the Ridgewood Fire Department. Fire Chief Judge and department members were present at the council meeting to accept the proclamation.

“Whether it is assisting injured persons from a motor vehicle accident, helping an elderly patient who forgot to take his medication, a person experiencing chest pain, or treating an overdose, the Ridgewood Fire Department firefighters and EMTs are trained and ready to deliver a wide range of medical interventions and support,” the proclamation stated.

These first responders work tirelessly 24/7, delivering life-saving care throughout the village — from emergencies in the home to critical accidents on the road.

A Tribute to 51 Years of EMS Progress

EMS Week was first established in 1974, and the proclamation highlights the tremendous progress made in the field over the past five decades — including advancements in prehospital care, emergency management, data collection, and community-based health care.

The Village Council’s statement encouraged all Ridgewood residents to support and thank the Ridgewood Fire Department’s EMTs and firefighters for their continued service and commitment to public safety.
