Ridgewood officials are seeking a private vendor to help trim the list of more than 140 trees in the village that have been targeted for removal.
Members of the Village Council approved the request for proposal (RFP) to tackle the specific task, a move that buys more time as the village continues to explore hiring options for its tree maintenance department.
With two workers scheduled to retire in coming weeks, the village’s tree staff will dwindle to one full-time employee to supervise the division’s operations, which include tree removal, pruning and planting, among other duties.
Following a discussion during last week’s work session, council members opted to immediately address the tree removal list while eventually replacing the retiring workers. The number of trees identified by village staff for removal peaked at 159 earlier this summer, but work over the past month has reduced the count into the 140s.

you know what people the mayor and council need to hire workers end of the story. the town crews can not do more with less. some dept’s are at dangers level’s that are and will hurt services in town. the tree crew is all gone.they hired one new worker. big deal. it is not going to be less money on the out side. the parks dept can do the work at a lower rate then a out side tree crew, end of the story. the village needs to know that , and they don’t care or they don’t know. man power will fix this hole town. and I know it.
yes it should be done in house. why should we pay a out side tree guy to do the work. we can do it I’am sure cheep’er then any one else. they must make money in doing this or they are out of the bizz. and this work is very hard to do. but yes the village upper managers need to wake up and hire people. and you can not do more with less so stop saying that. in the end the mayor and council need to wake up and start talking to the real people that know what the hell is going on in town. and that is the workers that deal with all the daily stuff. no bull sssssss, just the real deal talk. but just may be they don’t like the real truth about what is going on.
look this new gang need’s to wake up and get the right info. don’t be like the last crew and put your head in the sand. and think it will blow bye. the truth will come out from the village dept crews. and they all will tell you that the village must hire some workers. in the shade tree dept 3 left. in street dept 3 left , they all left do to a life long pride in what they loved. and made it to the age of rest time, good for them. so know it’s time for some new blood.
Out source to save money. No medical insurance. No pension payments. No sick time. No vacation. No disability payments. No civil service protection. You guys should tell your story walking.
a bum , get your info in order first. I was at the open meeting and the bid,s all came in higher then the village workers. how can that be some would say, well people if you have a tree biz you need to make money .right. you need to tell that to the fire and police. but you would not because you don’t have any ball,s. if you do come to the meetings. and show your face. you must be a real dirt ball. I wonder what you do for work. if you was my boss I would kick your ass.
the resone it didn’t come up was that they are all hidden cost. With this new council you guys are history. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass you union shrill. ” If you were my boss I would kick your ass” Thats the kind of employee we would want to work for the Village. I don’t like what your saying so I’m going to kick you ass. You need to go for a psychological evaluation. then you can go out on disability on our taxpayers dime .
I don’t work for the town. but I do get all the bid’s on job’s in all towns. if it would save money in going to the out side, well then all towns would do it. but they are not. do we need a paid fire dept????. no. because other towns don’t have it. that is one big way to save big money. and to mr # 6 I was never in a union. I don’t know any thing about that.
to # 6 do you think the village will go after the fire and police unions. yea hello. to all of you people who think that out sourcing is going to save the village money is on some sauce. it will look good on paper for the first two years, after that they got you by the ball’s. it’s all a scam. it’s a new way to brake the union’s. if they every get rid of the services the town will go to shit in a hand bag. all the town dept’s do a great job. the problem is some of the village dept’s are low in staff. and that needs to be fixed.
