Residents should shop local
Joan Idy

To the editor:

I’m writing this letter in the hopes of capturing the attention of the residents of Ridgewood who cherish and love this beautiful town as much as I do. We are so lucky to have such a gorgeous downtown business area with such a nice assortment of specialty shops and restaurants. However, I’m not sure if people realize that, under the surface, many of these very businesses are desperately struggling to survive.

It saddens me to see the hopes and dreams, creativity, hard work and money of the owners of so many stores and restaurants, go down the tubes! The vacant, boarded-up storefronts scattered around town are now becoming a very sad reality in our beautiful town. But my plea to you is that it doesn’t have to be that way!

  1. Surprising to see this letter on a blog that’s clearly of the Libertarian, Tea Party ilk. I would think the moderator would have the opinion that if they can’t survive in the capitalist environment, then let them fade away….

  2. It’s difficult to make suggestions on where and how to shop.
Unfortunately, individuals make those decisions on their own, based on their financial circumstances at the time.

It varies from town to town……… it’s a tough problem and just can’t be solved with a letter to a local paper and yes, even a local Blog.

    Happy holidays….

  3. apparently the holidays offer no relief for stupid comments
