Ridgewood NJ, It has become quite apparent to the current Ridgewood Village Council majority that getting their much-desired sports complex (complete with artificial turf, lights, concession stand, etc.) up and running on the former Schedler property isn’t going to be easy and may take several years.
County of Bergen and State of New Jersey agencies that provided funding for the property’s purchase are likely to become involved, and several residents who live near the proposed athletic complex (especially those with private wells) are poised to take legal action. Representatives of the not for profit “Friends of Historic Zabriskie-Schedler House, Inc.” have also expressed interest in the proceedings.
Realizing that their “field of dreams” may be years in the making, the Council is now in the process of physically surveying all parks and schools to determine if new any fields could be quickly constructed, existing fields rapidly enlarged, and/or if opportunities exist for the immediate installation of artificial turf and/or field lighting. Councilwoman Siobhan Winograd, Council Representative to the Fields Committee and Council Representative to the Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Board, is said to be the point person for this assignment.
The Ridgewood Blog strongly encourages all taxpayers who live near existing parks and/or schools to be aware of any unusual activity in the form of property inspections, VIP tours, surveys, etc. taking place on or near these properties. Make certain that everyone in your neighborhood is aware of the situation. It goes without saying that these folks have proven themselves to be sneaky and unconcerned about receiving feedback from residents/taxpayers. Be prepared.
The property values that are saved by you remaining alert and becoming involved may be your own.
Winograd screws taxpayers again? What is her problem?
The sports people donated heavily to her election campaign. Time to pay back their generosity.
Rbsa has been trying since Albano ran for council.
You snooze, you lose. They will not hesitate to stab you in the back. Be alert.
All of those things, plus a lightening shelter and lightening sound warning for the kiddies but meanwhile West Saddle is dangerous with cars flying off Route 17, so while kids might not get struck by lightening they could get hit by a car and the likelihood is high now that 2 children in that neighborhood have already been hit and the field and crazy traffic isn’t even here yet.
Stay out of the road. It is essentially a high speed exit ramp.
2 children have already been hit and were fortunate that they are ok but none of this makes sense to put a ballfield on Rt. 17.
The so called local tour guide and historian, LOL, GOD help us
That is funny when you think about it….
And, Peter, how do you like our new garbage cans…?
Watch out. They are coming for every inch of space coming with lights, artificial turf, bleachers, bathrooms, concession stands. Coming soon to your backyard.
Why don’t they put a turf field behind Ridge School? Plenty of room and not in a flood zone.
The Village and the school are different entities owning different properties
And citizens.
Not the first time the sports group pays to play. The pressure is on and a field has to be delivered.
Bravo! Schedler Warriors are now 3-0. That neighborhood watch is a force to be reckoned with. LOWER HAWES, batter up!
The Lower Hawes team has been on alert since 1992….T Vaughn Fitzgerald had our backs. And a few years late so did K Killion.
Salem Ridge calling for the Schedler neighbors. Sorry we’ve been MIA but they are extending the fields at Glen School and turning North Park into a field…can you help us.
Where is Salem Ridge?
Feed the Frontline gravy train is running out. The Mayor created a new stream of income and now has to deliver. You bet there is a field coming to your neighborhood soon.
Where did the millions of dollars that healthbarn owner proudly accepted through feed the frontlines go? What kind of a salary did she get? If one. Where did millions and millions of our money go It all went through healthbarn foundation???
LOWER HAWES IS NEXT ON SIOBHAN’S HIT LIST. WAKE UP LAWNS RESIDENTS! 90 FOOT BASEBALL FIELD WITH SCOREBOARD BLEACHERS AND MORE BEING PLANNED.
Perfect
Village field w full control
Let it rip
I know I’ve been saying that a 10 percent tax hike is on its way for a while now. Unfortunately I have to revise that estimate up to about 12 percent. For next year. That blonde moron has to be the dumbest person to ever serve on the council. She makes Gwen look like a rocket scientist.
Gwenn is an airhead. This one is mentally ill.
From local to international, people in power are wasting unbelievable amounts of time and money working our way back to the Dark Ages.
How about some positive developments instead?
This Town is worse than Peyton Place Drama pageant .
Right about Salem Ridge, and Hawes! Also have to consider BF will not be safe. Mayor and his partner are snatching up properties around Valley Hospital. New Valley location opening soon and that will be his new feasting frenzy.
Ridge School is ideal for a full size soccer field with lights.
You are a tool and exactly what we do not need in Ridgewood. Are you happy that you are trying to stir the pot by saying that Ridge school needs a full sized field with lights. If so, you need some mental help.
Why can’t they put a field behind Ridge School?
Under what business name, dba or LLC does Paulie operate? I can’t find out which properties he owns.
21 East Ridgewood Avenue is owned by 21 East Ridgewood Avenue, LLC deeded and registered to the same address. The same trick landlords from out of state use in Newark to avoid being identified. (obtained from Bergen County deed portal)
Your people just wait, you have no idea what’s going to happen to the Valley property. It’s gonna be something else. And none of us can I have any control over it. Big Baltics, big money, big Paul, the lawyers, if you don’t have a seat at the table well , enjoy the show.
There may be many little secret tricks up the sleeves of the majority block. Evan is a vote but the people who are moving and shaking actively around the machinations to development Schedler are squarely on Paul, Pam, Siobahn and Matt (Village attorney). They have tried everything and think people are not smart enough to find out what they are doing. Every conversation and email is documented and a timeline is put in place so when the hammer comes down, it may not be as easy as they think. The Primavera Puppet, which is what he is as Paul got him started back in November prior to becoming Mayor, is solely responsible to provide suggestions about what to do to get the field in place. Does this mean he will be able to overturn 6+ acres of the property, maybe but maybe not. Does this mean if they acquire the adjacent lot, they can pick up and move a historic house, maybe or maybe not. These things take time and Paul has said publically and privately that this has to get done and done quickly. Why the rush, Paul? Where is the money coming from when the Village says there are no additional funds for safety projects (except WG sidewalks). Is pay to play involved? Is money burning a hole in your lined pocket? Only time will tell. I hope they OPRA the SH*T out of your personal communication devices like email and cell phone texts. We will see how you operate, which will likely be a surprise to NO ONE.
I wondered where M Rogers stood on this.
I’m a little surprised that he would allow himself to get trapped by these craven people.
He is the Village Attorney and will not contradict what Paul and the Majority block have to say. I guess his interest is more about not letting them get sued. Reputationally, Paul has already tried to silence public comments on his Mayoral Facebook page, to which the ACLU and others came for Paul and made him stop to which Matt said he “hid” comments, not deleted them. Here’s is a news flash, if you hide them, people can’t then read them. Also, Paul used his private email to have communications with Peter Primavera, let’s see how this shakes out.
Prevent litigation? Maybe, sometimes. Mostly he wants to keep that unbelievably cushy job and does what he is told by Paul #1 and Paul #2.

Sell the property. A developer will love the location right next to Route 17. Great location for high density housing.
The “historic” home is just an old house. It has had several renovations over the years and is an eyesore. If it is fixed up wha will the Village do with it? Rent it out?
Obviously the National Register of Historic Places thinks differently. Good thing you are not an expert on the topic!!
I am not an expert. But I know a broken down house when I see one.
Sell the property and lets be done with it. No field. Just condos.
share your name if you are honest and stand behind this recommendation. hmm, didn’t think so.
There is a field over in Ho-Ho-Kus right on Route 17, it is labeled “Ho-Ho-Kus Athletic Field. No one is ever on it (wonder why). As it is only 5 minutes from Ridgewood, why not pop on over there. it is practically brand new as no one plays on it.
Now is it not the time or place to focus on Ho Ho Kus.
That field gets a lot of use for a small town like hhk. Baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse to name a few
Zero use actually. No one ever plays on it. I have passed it almost every day, no one is ever on that HHK field on Rt. 17
The consultant talked ad nauseum and was busy interrupting council members multiple times and had zero clue about some very important facts. If you are hired and paid to opine on a topic, proper research and due diligence is required. He seems like he has to have the last word and it is obvious he is deflecting and doesn’t really have a clue what he was talking about. Just because you read a report is not doing research. He didn’t talk to the Hunter Research people, including the guy he knows so well that he was bragging about. He did not fully check the materials and didn’t speak with the Architecture firm who are responsible for the house, and yet, he isn’t an architect and recommends moving it. What a dope. The other dope is Paul thanked him for doing a thorough job. On top of that, Marsha Stoltz (North Jersey Media Group) severely misquoted someone in her article and TapInto Ridgewood that is run by the same person who is the admin for the Mayor’s Facebook page, Jason DeAlessi, didn’t even have the right photo or information about the meeting in their article. Talk about shady as these are “news” outlets that people depend on for information.
There are 16 fields in Ridgewood. Oftentimes no one is playing on them and they are not flooded, so what is all of the hulabaloo about not having fields for the kiddies to play on? Also, with all of the injuries that are caused from playing on turf, not to mention that it is outrageously expensive, upwards of 600K plus replacement every 10 years and patching when damaged, either someone is getting a kickback or something fishy is going on. Why should residents be expected to foot these bills. The tax dollars being spent on a historic consultant, legal fees as the trees on the berm at Schedler are mostly dead or dying and the contractor/company who put them there is being sued, potential acquisition of land, moving a house. None of this makes sense and it will be a million dollar project when all is said and done.
Residents beware, Mr. RBSA is coming for your neighborhood. No one is safe when these guys want a new field. It is like promising a drug addict a fix. They will come in droves and dress up in their uniforms and bring their kids and cry at the podium.
