Ridgewood Schools Superintendent Back Tracks on High-Density Housing Impact on Schools

Dan Fishbein 10

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood is not the only North Jersey town reeling from development pressure .Towns like Ridgewood , MontclairGlen Rock , Upper Saddle River, Montvale to Fort Lee looking to come up with different strategies, for approving a new surge of housing, retail and cultural options intended to revive local business districts, meet state affordable-housing requirements and cater to changing consumer tastes.

According to the Bergen Record,” Ridgewood Schools Superintendent Daniel Fishbein doubts the low enrollment numbers often cited by developers. He saw the discrepancy as superintendent in Glen Ridge 14 years ago, when two multifamily buildings expected to add two students actually generated 11, Fishbein said.” ( https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/local/2019/10/15/nj-development-booms-residents-concerned-these-issues/2263930001/ )

and Fishbein went on,

“In 2012, the superintendent testified before the Ridgewood Planning Board as the village debated four mixed-use and residential developments now under construction. Projections showed seven students from a total of 400 new units.”

3 amigos in action Ridgewood NJ

and here is the selective memory,

“I remember clearly saying to the developers, ‘Seven?’ I just thought it was low,” he said. “The developers are doing their thing and building, and that’s their business, but in the end, they don’t have much skin in the game in terms of what happens after the developments are done.”

Interesting to hear that now, during the Arosohn administration reign of terror in Ridgewood the Ridgewood Schools System and Board members clearly, voiced the party line saying the development would have little impact on the school system. At the time when these developments were being jammed down the throats of taxpayers by the “3 amigos,” the school board fell inline and offered no resistance.

  1. I think he lies once every minute.

  2. Yep, these slums are going to kill us with taxes. What is this council doing to prevent the developers in town from making things worse? Building them a garage was not exactly a step in the right direction.

  3. Why not just wait and see what happens?

What a bunch of NIMBY fools you all are.

  4. What are they doing to our quaint beautiful Village? They are not keeping the concept. Instead they want to bring a city into our town?
    What is wrong with them?

  5. We are led by crooks in almost every management level being it schools or town. I don’t expect anything better because there is no accountability. They can basically turn this town upside down and do as they wish and nobody would stand up to them except for Steve Kim and Saurabh Dani. It is very little for a place of this size. When we hit 30000 residents in a few months maybe we will have more people speaking up (wink, wink).

  6. “Why not wait to see what happens?” The rental market is skewed toward families who choose Ridgewood to rent in because of the schools. (I have some involvement with that market so I have a feel for the renter demographics) It is prudent to estimate that the 400 units will yield dozens (or more) new students. Yeah we can wait but experience indicates that this impact was deliberately understated.

  7. Suspects still at large. Described as dumb blonde female with red lipstick, balding man wearing light color pants with open fly surrounded by lipstick stains, and man who is a pompous ass.

  8. the useless tool, Fishbein, never diappoints when it comes to disappointing…
