Lincoln/Highland is another of our shrubbiest intersections.
Curious if a driver in situation like this receives a summons. Other than a medical incident, shouldn’t you be in control of your vehicle at all times? If the police cannot prove speeding or a distraction, do they bother with a summons?
In the 1980s my car was totaled on Lincoln Avenue when parked, legally, in front of my dentist’s office. I was in the dentist’s chair and when I heard the crash I knew it was my car. The driver did not expect cars to be parked on such a busy street (40 mph) and was driving too far to the right. He bounced off my car into the southbound lane. Both he and the woman whose car he hit went to the hospital and all the cars were towed. I was never able to find out what happened to them.
I had to replace my car, which was less than a year old. I had to take what the dealer had, and didn’t love the color of the new one. This and dealing with the insurance company, rental car, etc., occupied many hours of my life while I was working full time as a single parent–a nightmare. But at least I wasn’t in the car.
The dentist lived in that house but did not allow patients to park in the back even though there was enough space. I said that if he had any interest in keeping me as a patient he would change the rule for me, and he did.
I believe parking continues to be legal there. It shouldn’t be.
