RIDGEWOOD TRAFFIC ALERT – May 7, 2014
Starting Wednesday, May 7th, paving construction work will begin on the West Side at Wilsey and Garber Squares from Godwin Avenue to under the train trestle on Franklin Avenue. Expect traffic congestion in this area for the next 3 months during construction. To avoid delays, we suggest the use of alternate streets to get across the train tracks – Ackerman Avenue or W. Glen Avenue.
3 months to repave a few hundred feet of road? You’re bullshitting me!
Oh wait…its a union job!
Who were the connected firms hired to do this job?
the center island is being widened, sooooo wide that it will be 1 lane of traffic each way
Why are they doing?
#3: Really? Cutting Grove to one lane each way — I think I remember them talking about “calming the flow” — had little impact because there’s not much traffic there. I have never seen a traffic jam on that stretch of road. Taking out a lane each way under the tracks will frequently cause backups all the way from one light to the other. There won’t be enough room for cars. We’ll have gridlock all day long.
What a joke.

Follow the money…
This job could be done in two weeks not 3 months.
Traffic congested or diverted? Can you still park at the train station?
Do any of the above people have any thing better to do except complain? As for Grove not having much traffic you are dreaming.
It looks like the police department is trying to distance itself from this disaster. From the police website.
The project entails reducing traffic flow to one lane in both directions at the underpass. Any concerns or questions about the project should be directed to the Village of Ridgewood engineering Department who developed and is overseeing the project, and not the Police Department. Thank You

Let’s revisit this discussion in three months
I was talking to a village employee who indicated there might be a bicycle lane involved in this plan, can you imagine what it will be like on the fourth of july putting all the marchers through there.
