Ridgewood NJ, In response to the events in Las Vegas, NV this week, the community of Ridgewood is holding a vigil at Van Neste Park, downtown Ridgewood, on Thursday, October 5, at 7:00 p.m. led by the Religious Leaders of Ridgewood. This event will allow the community of Ridgewood to come together and respond to sad and disturbing act of violence in Las Vegas. Vigils are seen as a nonviolent way to raise awareness of a cause and to motivate change, as well as uniting and supporting one another. This gathering expresses that the eternal light and our light overcome the darkness of world.
What an absolutely useless event. It’s no different to the many similar messages I see on social media.
.
So to protest Nazis it has to be on private property but when it is a domestic terrorist we can have it on public property?
It’ll end up being a political attack on widespread private ownership of firearms, and of course, on President Trump. Calls for civility in public discourse will then be sounded. Their goals accomplished, the assembled multitude will then descend upon the drive-thru Starbucks, only to be rebuffed because they are all on foot.
Good one 9:22.
Prayers without actions.
Skip the prayers and change the laws.
Make them illegal, just like drugs. Thatll work.
Are you people delusional?
How may prayers are you going to say?
How many vigils is it now? 10? 20? 90?
Your “light” and the “eternal” light aren’t working very well because you can’t see what’s happening right in front of you. Until the mental health issues are addressed in this country NOTHING is going to change. Save your kumbaya’s for the campfire…leave the serious matters to those who can make a difference.
OMG… does this mean we’ll be getting yet another useless platitude from our disappointing Superintendent Fishbein?
Can we have the names of the people who came up with this idea? Clearly the community did not spontaneously decide to hold a vigil – someone proposed it.
If you want to make a difference start writing to your senator and congressman asking for common sense gun control and access to better mental healthcare FOR EVERYONE. God helps those who help themselves.
