Ridgewood NJ, citing “cable and conduit failures,” and in conjunction with approval of an upcoming roof replacement project, the Ridgewood Village Council will likely vote this coming week to ditch all solar panels on the roof of Village Hall.

Unbeknownst to taxpayers until it was publicly announced by Village Manager Keith Kazmark on Wednesday night, 07/02/2025, the solar panels have not supplied electricity to the building for “years.”

The panels were installed in 2014 as part of a “Sustainable Energy Project,” along with similar panels at the “main firehouse” and the Village’s Water Pollution Control Plant in Glen Rock. It is not known whether panels at those locations are still supplying electricity.

The surprise announcement/revelation by Mr. Kazmark leaves members of our staff wondering why the Council has chosen to ditch solar energy instead of addressing the “cable and conduit failures,” and what the status of the other solar panel installation is.
Too many secrets being kept.

  1. This just shows the abject failure of this “alternative energy” nonsense. Remember all the PS&G pole-mounted panels (now mostly gone), the failing windmills, and so on. We need to stop the expensive nonsense and regain some sanity. Go nuclear, NOW!

    1. Wind mills? 38 percent convertible energy. Killing whales and dolphins. Extremely expensive to maintained.
Nuts. Solar panels also too expensive. Go nuclear energy

  2. “Sustainable Energy Project”
If government was in business, it would be out of business.

  3. Another Ridgewood Engineering fail?

    1. They looked fine. No need for testing.

      1. Likely need new inverters, they only last 10 years or so.

  4. I can’t believe that the director of engineering and Dpw still has employment in the village. How can this pain, he must have some real dirt on the town he must be blackmailing them because what else could it be. This guy could’ve been fired numerous times he’s one arrogant individual, and other things too, which I don’t need to mention because everyone knows.
