Ridgewood NJ, according to Ridgewood Water , “We have a responsibility to protect our drinking water supply from exposure to and contamination with toxic PFAS, and yesterday’s filing is just one step of many that we are taking towards fulfilling that responsibility. The companies that knowingly sold and promoted these products – despite recognizing that they would impact our drinking water – must be held accountable for the costs we will incur to remove them, and that is what this lawsuit is all about.
Our RW action plan, shared via webinar and at the Village of Ridgewood Council meeting on September 12, 2018, identified as a key action step that we would “Determine sources of the contamination and seek funding from responsible parties.” Yesterday’s filing delivers on that commitment. For more information, please visit our web site to learn about our monitoring of water quality for the presence of PFAS, frequently asked questions, background information and updates on our efforts to address this issue and keep our customers informed every step of the way.”

Ridgewood Water hosted the webinar back in September of 2018 in recognition that government representatives and local leaders desire and expect to have information of interest to them and their constituents in a timely manner, so they can best serve their communities.
The webinar also announced Ridgewood Water’s plans to hold its first Regular Water Quality Open Houses in Wyckoff, Midland Park, Ridgewood and Glen Rock in the early fall.
During the Open Houses, Ridgewood Water’s professional staff and technical experts will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about what the utility is doing to provide customers with reliable, quality drinking water. Open House dates, times and locations will be publicized and posted on this website.
A copy of the presentation used for both the webinar and the 9/12/18 Village of Ridgewood Council Meeting can be found below. A stream of the Council Meeting can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0JQIXr5JIc, with the Ridgewood Water presentation beginning at the 33:00 minute mark.
SEriously, Matt Rodgers and the Council shake in their boots when the developers simply threaten to sue them – – they handed over the town to the developers – – and now they are going to take on the whole chemical / plastics industry?
This Council and the overpaid Matt Rogers weren’t even willing to use the gift-wrapped precedent from Morristown to challenge Valley’s “not for profit” status to win payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT) that could have covered almost 10% of our municipal budget… now they think they can sue chemical companies?
Why do Village taxpayers keep paying for Ridgewood Water’s incompetence? And yet we as taxpayers get no accountability or transparency from the longstanding cesspool of graft & incompetence that is Ridgewood Water? Sell it to a transparent & accountable professional water utility like publicly listed S&P 400 component Aqua America WTR. Remove this liability from Village taxpayers’ hands.
