Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water continues to make significant progress in its mission to eliminate PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) from local drinking water, with multiple treatment facilities already online and more scheduled to launch throughout 2025 and 2026.

As of now, the Carr and Twinney PFAS treatment facilities in Ridgewood are fully operational. Additional facilities at Ravine (on the Ridgewood-Wyckoff border), Prospect in Glen Rock, as well as East Ridgewood and West End in Ridgewood, are all expected to go live before the end of the year.

The remaining six facilities in the Ridgewood Water system are either under construction or in the final stages of design and permitting.

Ridgewood Water Ahead of Federal Standards

By the end of 2026, Ridgewood Water will have all 12 PFAS treatment facilities fully operational, ensuring that all regulated PFAS compounds will be non-detectable in the treated water — a level well beyond the EPA’s strict standard of 4 parts per trillion.

Notably, the completion of this system-wide project will occur three years ahead of the EPA’s 2029 deadline, positioning Ridgewood Water as a state and national leader in PFAS removal.

A Commitment to Safe, Clean Drinking Water

PFAS compounds, sometimes referred to as “forever chemicals,” have been found in water supplies across the country due to decades of industrial and consumer use. While Ridgewood Water did not introduce PFAS into the environment, it has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety of its drinking water for all residents in Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park, and Wyckoff.

“This is something we should all be proud of,” officials stated. “Ridgewood Water didn’t put PFAS into our water, but we’re leading the charge in removing it.”

Residents can look forward to a safer, cleaner water supply — years ahead of federal requirements.

  1. Sell the utility. Make millions. We are a Village, not a water utility.

  2. No coincidence that this will come just in time for the next municipal election.

  3. Who wants to make a bet this won’t be completed by the end of 2026?

  5. Keep in mind that RW water can choose to buy PFAS free water from towns like Hawthorne, so how will we actually know whether the full remediation is working. Could be another smoke show starring PauLIE, Kazshark and the other not ready for prime time players.

Just because you say it, does not make it true.

  6. Speaking of selling the water utility, we’ve been asking for years how much is the utility worth. probably millions.
