Ridgewood Water – STAGE 4 WATER RESTRICTIONS

Dear E-Notice Resident,

Due to the very dry conditions that we have experienced over the last few months, we have deemed it necessary to invoke a Stage 4 irrigation ban. Beginning immediately, there will be no irrigation allowed other than using hand-held spray nozzles – these hand-helds can only be used on Tuesdays and Saturdays for odd-numbered houses and Wednesdays and Sundays for even-numbered houses. No irrigation of any kind is allowed on Mondays, Thursdays or Fridays.

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of obeying these restrictions – this is a public safety issue – our firefighters need to have the necessary water and water pressure to be able to fight fires and we also need to maintain reserves for household use.

As you are aware we have ratcheted up enforcement over the last several weeks issuing over 50 summonses and hundreds of warnings. This has had some impact but unfortunately we need to take this further – so, I have taken the additional step of appointing more Village employees who will have the authority to issue summonses in order to achieve a higher rate of compliance.

We will continually monitor our water supply. Hopefully we will not need to also ban hand-held watering but this may still be a possibility…..let’s hope for some rain! For up-to-the-minute restriction status, please visit our website at water.ridgewoodnj.net.

It really does take all of us to address these types of problems. Thanks for your help and support,

Roberta

  1. Go into Wyckoff and look at who has a green yard and put on your patrol list.

  2. it’s about time no rain for the summer . to late.

  3. why did they wait so long. the state is in big trouble.

  4. Look in your own backyard there are plenty of green lawns including current and former employees of the village.

  5. Dear Ridgewood Water: BUY NEW PUMPS, PLEASE.

  6. Empty the Graydon Pool water into the water reserve tanks might help.

  7. People using sprinklers right now. You know who the violators are – just look for the Green Lawns and sprinklers. Some water sprinkle everyday.

  8. Dear Ridgewood Water, Make it rain please. I am entitled to any and everything I want and when I want it as 5:26 explains.

As a tax payer here I say it is your duty to make it rain, Get new employees at Ridgewood Water. Whatever it takes.

  9. SPRINKLER BAN, SPRINKLER BAN STAGE 4 IN RIDGEWOOD!
–HOW LONG BEFORE STAGE 5- WHEN THEY DRIVE AROUND WITH MEGAPHONES BLARING COMPLETE BANNING ALL OUTDOOR WATERING!

  10. I have an idea why don’t we build apartments i and a assistant living facility in the CBD to help easy the demand on Ridgewood water.

  11. Thanks to the inconsiderate residents who didn’t comply with stage 2,
    Arrogant asshats

  12. Who got the 50 summonses? On my block alone there are a dozen houses that defy the rule all the time.

  13. $1,250.00 FINE – Robo call on neighbors phone says A FINE UP TO $1,250.00.
    – – – -THEY SHOULD HAVE STATED THAT FINE FROM THE BEGINNING!! THAT MIGHT OF STRAIGHTENED OUT ALL THE INCONSIDERATE SELFISH A**HOLES! What does the masked ANON blogger have to say now?

  14. A bunch of BS. The radio this week said Rockland and Bergen are under VOLUNTARY water restrictions.

  15. We should get the RBA to artificially turf on lawns. Problem solved right Fast Ed

  16. Rat your neighbor out if necessary. If your house is on fire and there is low water pressure to fight it, you might be sorry if you did nothing to stop a violator.

  17. It appears that any “enforcement” didn’t do much .
How about a website, like the potholes website where it’s easy to report?
It’s obvious when someone has a lush lawn and the sidewalk is wet….

  18. This morning on a walk I noticed irrigation systems being used early a.m. It was odd numbered addresses. They probably don”t own hoses.

  19. Rat your neighbor out if necessary. If your house is on fire and you are not at home, they might call the fire department…

  20. My friend in Florida uses “gray water” for her plants. She said she was actually doing the town a favor by watering. Why don’t we do something like that?

  21. Asshats….that’s a good one…write that down

  22. Sure, turn in your neighbor. You jerks should move to a rural community where the assholes who don’t mind their own business just quietly disappear. Were the people here always this way? Was I just too naive to see it? What a shame.

  23. What’s up with the aggression? Geez. The problem is entirely manufactured by idiots in the town bureaucracy who believe they are doing “the right thing” by making everyone suffer (while they go home and water all they want). There is no drought in the NE like there is out west. Most counties in the area have no water restrictions. The problem is not the water but the officious a-holes (like the commenter here) who get their rocks off by bossing everyone around. How about you mind your own business and show some humanity for crying out loud. How did people get to be so mean and vindictive? The town without any living vegetation would be a very unsightly place and property values would surely go down. Watering your lawn is a necessary part of maintaining your investment in your home.

  24. There is something fishy here. Ramsey allows twice a week watering, and they border Wyckoff, which is a Ridgewood Water Department Town. Same with Hawthorne, which draws its water from the same aquifer as RWC. There may be a logical explanation, but RWC isn’t talking about it. Very suspicious.
