Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water, serving Ridgewood, Wyckoff, Glen Rock, and Midland Park, has implemented its regular mandatory two-day-a-week lawn watering restrictions. This measure aims to conserve water and prevent the need for more severe Stage 3 restrictions this summer.

Mandatory Watering Schedule

To ensure water conservation, please adhere to the following watering schedule and designated hours:

  • Odd-Numbered Addresses: Water on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
  • Even-Numbered Addresses: Water on Wednesdays and Sundays.
  • Automatic Sprinkler Systems: Set to water between 3:00 am and 7:00 am.
  • All Other Watering: Should be done before 10:00 am or after 6:00 pm.

Note: No irrigation is allowed on Thursdays.

Exceptions

You can irrigate any day, within the time restrictions noted above, if:

  • Using a hand-held hose or drip irrigation.
  • You have obtained a smart watering exemption from the Ridgewood Water office.

Remember to re-certify your exemption annually. Ridgewood Water will send a reminder via email. If your email has changed or you’re unsure if it’s on file, please fill out this form to update your information.

Why the Restrictions?

During the summer, water consumption often exceeds the Ridgewood Water supply system’s sustainable capacity, reducing the reserve water available for firefighting and other emergencies. Complying with the two-day watering schedule helps maintain water reserves and reduces the likelihood of needing stricter controls.

Reporting Non-Compliance

To report non-compliance with the watering restrictions, please email [email protected] or call 201-670-5520.

  1. The ”smart” watering is DUMB
Stick to the 2 day deal and there won’t be a problem

  2. Someone please tell the good folks at Church of God on Godwin. They watered their lawn (at least) three times this past week, Mon, Wed and Friday.

    1. I counted five houses on my short AM walk today watering their lawns only a few hours after it rained and a few before it started raining again. ????

      1. so what.

        1. You’ll be back on this blog in 5 minutes complaining about how the members of the village council repeatedly disregard every law, rule, regulation and procedure in the books whenever it suits them. That’s what.

  3. Its ok to water 7-1, 7-2 and 7-3 along with Vets Field

    1. Are you filling your lawn with thousands of people and tons of explosives? If so, feel free to water in those days.

  4. Do you know what I had enough? I’m watering whenever I wanna water. I’m tired of this bullshit. why don’t you just sell to Viola water?

    1. Yep

The cup of woke liberal bs policies has overflowed. Enough is enough and its pushback time.

    2. What will you do, and ALL of us, when the aquifer runs dry!
It’s happening all across U.S. , predictions that there will be no more ground water by 2050 or sooner..
We need to not waste water, water grass 2x week.
You’d be surprised what a sprinkler system cranks out full force vs using above ground aeration with a garden hose.

Blamed it on extreme weather patterns, heat and world wide over population.

      1. To Thumbs down:
Look up Aquifer – and how it works.
Many Ridgewood Water Co. wells are old and not working.

Once ground water runs out, that’s it – no more water to pump.
Its over-usage at the same time. Save your money, sprinkler systems are a big waste of money and a waste of precious water needed for human consumption. Its needed for fields of crops.

  5. THE SPICE MUST FLOW!

  6. STOP WITH YOUR BALL FIELD BULLSHIT AND BUILT WATER STORAGE!
    E N O U G H !

    1. True, solutions – not nonsense. OR, download a free piece of planning/schedule software (or Excel) and simply plan and schedule the use of the fields we have. They are ALWAYS EMPTY. ALWAYS!!!

      1. Re planning/schedule software (or Excel).. isn’t that what the VOR employees in Parks and Recreation Dept. supposed to do?
Why not enough “field time”? for all sports, which leads them to Want More and More Fields? were there are no more areas of possibilities. (Flood Zones, and town fully Built out).

  7. Yes. It will help.

  8. Parking tickets all day long while the $30m garage is always half empty- surplus of parking supply, yet we TAX residents, it sounds like a revenue scheme!
No water use fines, but we have a natural deficit of water due to water tables- no tax on that excessive use which hurts everyone

Is this fair? That’s your Village Council for decades at work, making decisions that seem to benefit a few at the expense of many.

    1. You have discovered the secret to government.

  9. We have an issue due to storage capacity, and lack of adherence to guidelines/regulations/law.

    1. Tell that to Felina’s that was power-washing the side of the building this afternoon. What a clown show.
