RIDGEWOOD — With several veteran police officers about to retire, village officials say they plan to recruit additional officers for the police department in the fall.
According to Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld, six officers will be retiring from Ridgewood’s police department before the year ends
“Two have already retired and the others will retire between October and December,” Sonenfeld explained.
Ridgewood has 40 officers, and three new officers are being trained, Sonenfeld said.
“We will be actively recruiting trained officers in the fall with targeted start dates right at the beginning of next year,” Sonenfeld said. “We are also assuming some extra overtime will be needed as well as some shifting of functions from police officers to civilians, particularly at the police desk.”
Despite rumors suggesting otherwise, village officials said that the police chief, John Ward, is not retiring in 2015.
Okay, I’ll notify the Nepotism Committee.
Also I guess the annual fitness tests have been scuttled….

Make sure you let our Village Manager know so she can hire some more of her friend from the Leed’s program.
This should have been done years ago the village knew these retirements were coming and did nothing, it takes time to put cops on the street, the tax payer will suffer the cost of overtime. CK if you don’t like move elsewhere

CK has no problem with her hiring her friend from Leeds as the new HR person at a 150 plus salary and benefits.
oh, what about other dept’s that had workers retiring how about replacing them too.
No need to replace retiring workers in various Village Departments just do what the private sector does……. namely make the remaining workers work harder. Problem solved !!
o well they don’t replace workers the work don’t get done. so the tax payer get even less for the tax money that we pay, I’m not happy about that. not working 9,24 pm ,
