Ridgewood NJ, this summer, the Ridgewood Police Department proudly hosted the 12th annual Chief Michael Feeney Junior Police Academy, offering local students a one-of-a-kind, hands-on experience into the world of law enforcement and public safety.

The academy, named in honor of Chief Michael Feeney, brought together aspiring young cadets and top-tier public safety professionals for an unforgettable week of training, demonstrations, and teamwork.

Throughout the week, cadets received real-world instruction and thrilling demonstrations from elite units and law enforcement agencies, including:

  • Bergen County Police K9 Unit

  • Ridgewood and Glen Rock Motorcycle Units

  • Bergen County Regional SWAT Team

  • Bergen County Crisis Negotiators

  • United States Mint Police

  • New Jersey State Police Helicopter Unit

  • U.S. Military Academy at West Point

  • Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Marine Unit

  • Ridgewood Fire Department

  • Hawthorne Police Drone Unit

  • Ridgewood Police Detective Bureau

From tactical operations to air support and drone technology, students explored every corner of modern policing.

In a Facebook post, Ridgewood Village Manager Keith Kazmark praised the program, saying:
