Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Central Business District (CBD) is looking vibrant and ready for the summer season! We’ve been hard at work to ensure the area is welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. Here are some of the exciting updates:

  • Freshly Paved Streets: The “tree streets” (Chestnut, Oak, and Walnut) have been newly paved and striped, giving them a smooth and polished appearance.
  • Dining Corrals: Outdoor dining corrals have returned, offering delightful al fresco dining experiences.
  • New Tree Plantings: Young trees have been planted in nearly all of the tree wells downtown. The remainder will be planted in October, ensuring our streets remain green and inviting.

Additionally, make sure to notice the veterans banners adorning our streetlamp posts throughout the CBD. Each banner proudly displays a photo of a Ridgewood resident who served in the armed forces. A special thank you to Joan Monton for spearheading this heartfelt project.

Supporting Our Downtown Businesses

According to Mayor Paul Vagianos the council is committed to helping our downtown businesses thrive. Here are two significant initiatives they have undertaken:

  1. Zoning Ordinance Changes: We’ve streamlined the process for businesses to open by modifying the zoning ordinance. This means fewer approvals and variances are needed, saving time and money for new businesses.
  2. Special Improvement District: We are working on establishing a Special Improvement District. This initiative will allow our businesses to collaborate and create a fund, at no cost to taxpayers. The fund will be used to promote everything the CBD has to offer, maintain cleanliness, and bring special projects to town that both businesses and residents will love.

Mayor Vagianos said ,”We’re excited about these improvements and believe they will enhance the charm and functionality of our Central Business District. Come down, enjoy the new look, and support our local businesses!”

  1. How about sprucing up the corners of the parking lots and the Alleyways
    and behind buildings are filthy.

    1. Especially Felina’s. Their trash is constantly overflowing and being scavenged from by ravens. Not to mention, after events the Ridgewood Avenue side is always littered with cigar butts, beer bottles and glasses. It’s disgusting. And their food is mediocre to boot.

      1. That’s awful. We need a mayor that keeps the town clean.

        1. Athough we’d love to blame it on Vagianos, as he is responsible for a lot of crap in the village.
It is Village Manager’s job to oversee all of this but he is too busy hanging out with politicians by the pool and taking photo ops. Is he running for Governor? One never knows.

  4. I don’t know why someone’s putting thumbs down regarding cleaning certain areas of the CBD. Are you that screwed up. What the hell is wrong with you? You must be some real jackass. I like to meet you and smack you right across the lips you punk thumb down the corners, parking lots behind buildings, alleyways, Where you don’t think see the garbage and debris well they’re thumbs down so again take that from spin on it and slide it up your ass

    1. Have I finally met a real man in Ridgewood to smack me all across my hot lips? Name the filthy alleyway and I’ll be there my squeaky clean CBD lover boy.

    2. where have you been. Get out from behind the keyboard and show up at a council meeting and you can talk to them in person. I will make the popcorn.

    1. I guess that’s a date.

  6. Do the jerk off that puts thumbs down’ You sound like a real nut job. We are trying to clean up areas of the town and you’re working against us. Who wouldn’t like areas of the CBT Nice and clean. It doesn’t start on the main Avenue you fool. It starts in the back of the parking lot where all the garbage is stored, side streets Then clean up the main Avenue. That’s like washing your face before you wash your ass. Wake up.🫵🏼

    1. Paging Dr. Freud … it’s CBD not CBT. CBT is something else entirely different and really not an appropriate topic of discussion here, although given your strange preoccupation with asses it’s all starting to fit together.

  7. It’s worse than Newark, the corruption….. if you’re not a Shortway you’re screwed.

  8. This council is destroying our town!! Dirty, too many cars and not enough businesses in town. They really suck. They are only worried about the parks and fields. Yet destroying the main reason people come to ridgewood. The CBD

    1. They are destroying our beautiful village. Why? Because they didn’t run for the right reasons. When you come in and parade around with an agenda, this is what you get. You have Vagianos, business and restaurant owner, owns many buildings with restaurants and shops in them as tenants, cha ching, need designer garbage cans and let’s make it sparkle, except it doesn’t sparkle. it is dull from the tarnish of a terriible council that has all had too many sips of the kool aide. Lorraine Reynolds, the only one up there with any integrity, is sorely outnumbered. We need some people on the council that will prioritize the right things not their agendas to please their friends who donated to their campaigns. We also have a village attorney who has been aligned with the wrong people and the village manager who is up to God knows what running around taking pictures all over town and not fixing some of the long standing problems going on within the village. No oversight or management.
