RIDGEWOOD — The village has accepted a $35,000 grant that will fund the construction of a handicapped accessible ramp at Graydon Pool.
Ridgewood officials said the Community Development Block Grant will pay for the entire project.
The plan is to use the money to build a ramp from Graydon Pool’s parking lot to the sidewalk along Linwood Avenue.

Well I guess Preserve Gradyon back the wrong horse. Rev Puch must be laugh his butt off.
No one used the ramp that they built. No handicapped wheel chair person came to Graydon last summer.
I love Graydon, i moved here for Graydon and I went there everyday last summer. And everyday since 1978.
No wheel chair person used the new one that was built nor did any frail person use it on a regular basis.
The money should be used for maintaing the wonderful plake as is.
The counci,l Aaronshon and Pucciarelli hate Graydon; they hate nature and they want everyone crippled and not out in nature getting healthy from the sun and natural sand bottomed deep water. God. I love Graydon so much. LEAVE IT ALONE. When I moved here and it was all sand and water and no frickin artifial patio, that was the greatest.
The handicapped people, God Bless them, need warm indoor YMCA water , because they don’t have the musculature to really swim and warm up in Graydon natural waters.
And by GOD and God bless, Graydon is my SENIOR CENTER, it keeps me in my seventies movin and a groovin, using MY GOD GIVEN MUSCLES FOLKS , like G O D intended. And keepin me healthy. The SAND OH GOD RUNNIN on the SAND is SOOOOO SO OH SO OO GOOD for your balance and ARONSHON WANTS TO GET RID OF THE SAND WITH A CONCRETE POOL YOU know what folks I saw the RIDGEWOOD TRACk TEAM RUNN ING RUNNING RUN UN ING ING RUNNNNNNNING on the SAND with a TEACHER WATCHIN last OCTOBER EARLY OCTOBER WHEN GRAYDON was CLOOOOOOSED because it is good for improving running and balance. AND HEY EY HEEEY Ey . GUESS WHAT I did i did did did I called the Park the REC. and asked if I could do the SAME SA ME SA VE ME SAVE MY HEALTH WITH natURE and SURE NATURE and they said YES YES YES YES . IT is a PUBLIC PARK so I can Go GIRL SWirL and Whirl girl on the SA ND GIRL GG G G GOOOOO GIRL to GRAYDONGIRL OLD LADY THAT I AM IN my seventies now. GRAYDON KEEPS ME Y O U N G/ The n ew RAMP IS A DAMPER DAMN THE NEW RAMPER RAMP . RAM IT UP IT SHOULD NOT BE BUILT IT WILL NOT BE — USED BY THE WHEEL CHAIR BOUND OR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN KEPT HEALTHY BY SWIMMING IN GRAYDON FOR 37 YEARS. OHHHHH I LOOOOOOOVE GRaydon. NO ramp a ramp is a damper. A pamper diaper. not needed in GLORRRRRRIOUS GRAYdon . Glory Glory Hallaluliah GRAYDON.
Does all that improve the “swimming” at the pool ??
I doubt it. I still go to the Paramus Pool for their modern up to date facility. The handicap have special chairs that serves their needs and trained personnel to serve them.
Concurrent with ramp installation, a guardrail should be installed along the curb line, on the north side of Linwood Avenue from Northern Parkway up to and including the Linwood Avenue entrance to Graydon. I’d hate to see someone in a wheelchair get run over by a vehicle that mounts the curb there.
Is “plake” a real word or one made up by people who want the best of both worlds… pool+lake = plake? I don’t get it… Is it a “pool” or a “lake” people? Why make up words to describe the place?
# 2 Graydon is for everyone, and needs to be accessible to everyone, even pinheads like you. The ramp is ADA compliant (uh….that’s a law) and I’m sure you’re not qualified to prescribe where people with disabilities should obtain their recreation or to diagnose their lack of “musculature” in one broad stroke. How about if I say people over 70 shouldn’t use Graydon because they’re weak and could drown and it’s too big a liability? Generalizations hurt everyone. Discrimination still runs rampant against those with disabilities and small minded people will argue that any accommodation is unnecessary when there’s nothing in it for them. There is no one in my family who needs this ramp, but I know it’s the right thing to do, and whether it’s used by 5 people or 50 is irrelevant. Get with the times people. Everyone has rights, and anyone living with a disability struggles enough without us complaining that a ramp is paved with gold.
#6 is spot on. Public places must be accessible. A handicapped person should not need to check in advance to determine that there are accomodations.
Bathrooms are built with handicapped stalls. They do not survey the neighborhood. My sidewalk has cutouts -as it should.
