SCAMMER CHARGED WITH FILING A FALSE POLICE REPORT

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JAYNE D. GARRIDO-CONTRERAS (DOB: 07/03/1963; single; employed as a supermarket stock person) of 144 Pine Street, 2nd floor, Hackensack, NJ on charges of Knowingly Exhibiting False Government Issued Identifications, Impersonation, Trafficking Personal Identification Information, and Filing A False Report to Law Enforcement. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer In Charge Captain Peter Busciglio.

In March 2019, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) Security and Investigation Unit notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit that Jayne D. GARRIDO-CONTRERAS had two identities on record and defrauded the MVC. The MVC determined that GARRIDO-CONTRERAS obtained a non-driver identification in November 2018. A check of its system also revealed that in November 2011 GARRIDO-CONTRERAS had obtained a non-driver identification under the name of a Florida resident.

An investigation by the BCPO’s Financial Crimes Unit revealed that GARRIDOCONTRERAS opened three bank accounts using the fraudulent identity and social security card. In January 2019, GARRIDO-CONTRERAS filed a police report with the Hackensack Police Department using the false identification alleging that she was the victim of fraud.

As a result of the investigation, Jayne D. GARRIDO-CONTRERAS was arrested on June 6, 2019 in Hackensack, NJ and charged with one count of Exhibiting A False Document (MVC ID Card) As Proof Of Identification, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-2.1(C), a 3rd degree crime; one count of Exhibiting A False Document (Social Security Card) as Proof Of Identification, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-2.1(C), a 3rd degree crime; one count of Wrongful Impersonation, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-17A(1), a 4th degree crime; one count of Trafficking In Personal Information, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-17.3A, a 4th degree crime; and one count of Filing A False Report To Law Enforcement, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:28-4B(1), a 4th degree crime.

GARRIDO-CONTRERAS is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack,NJ on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.Prosecutor Musella states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Hackensack Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
