We have come to a point in our history at which it is essential that the Barack Obama myth and fantasy be effectively challenged and utterly destroyed, well in advance of the end of his second term as president. To do otherwise is to allow his impossibly effective campaign to destroy our civic, religious, military, and diplomatic culture (remember, he pledged to ‘fundamentally transform’ America) to become established chapter and verse of a new and demonstrably dangerous nationwide political movement.
If we act before the ink is dry on the fearful new tome Obama is writing, we may be able to erase or obliterate its corrosive message, and prevent it from being transmitted, unexamined and unrefuted, to our children, and to our children’s children. Wait too long, though, and we may never be able to “re-moralize” our country once he leaves office.
Think about it. We are accustomed to speaking about our former presidents in respectful, reverential terms. Obama knows this, and will exploit this dynamic for the rest of his life as he continues to pursue his now-obvious path of demoralizing true patriots and destroying our civil society. To the extent we act as expected and work to preserve our tradition of lionizing former presidents (who would have thought that Bill Clinton, he of rapacious sexual proclivities, could take such full advantage of this otherwise commendable habit!), we, as a country, effectively endorse the political activities, outlooks, and philosophies of our ex-presidents. At the very least, we have –at least to date– placed it outside the sphere of acceptable discourse for a nationally-recognized ‘thought leader’ or politician to professionally lambaste an ex-president, and (if applicable) reveal the true nature of his sociopathic personality, however thoroughly he may deserve such treatment based on norms or standards we apply to ordinary U.S. citizens.
Don’t you see? The time to act is when Obama remains in office. Obama must be forced to defend his every questionable action and inaction while he still occupies the office of POTUS. We must hold up a mirror to him, and force him to admit his past transgressions, as well as his true intentions for the future of this country. If we are lucky, we may see the day when he resigns, his political support entirely eliminated. But if he fails to resign, which seems likely, we must impeach him and remove him from office.
We have a great deal of hard work to do to restore the constitutional republic that is our political heritage. We are bound to protect our society against the current onslaught of attacks that is clearly intended to foment unnecessary self-doubt, sap our strength as a people, and stimulate and accelerate the kind of moral and cultural decay that history shows eventually reduces a proud nation-state to utter rubble. Let that work begin now, while the eyes of the nation, and of the world, are fixed on Obama and his administration.

Politicians like to tell us that if we elect them, they will create jobs for us. This is impossible, unless they intend to expand government and have taxpayers pay more government workers to produce unprofitable services, or, to directly finance the creation of specific jobs in a specific marketplace with taxpayers money. In either case, a destruction of wealth is involved, and the jobs”unlike private sector jobs”do not pay for themselves and thus require yet new taxpayer funding each year, which further reduces capital in the economy. Except for the few wealth-destroying activities such as building space stations[ref]The space stations might eventually help us produce wealth, but do not currently. Even if they did, consumers would likely prefer to have other things for their lives instead of space stations. If space stations were to be a consumer preference (i.e., cost effective), they would likely be so decades or centuries down the road, not now. Plus, many things NASA is associated with having created were actually created by others. It thus has no power to create real jobs in the marketplace; it can only manage and regulate. It is only individuals and individual companies that produce and create; their ideas and capital are what profitably create jobs. The only way politicians can create beneficial jobs for us in the marketplace is by undoing the existing policies that create unemployment.
Thats right, the government (and only the government) creates unemployment, except for unemployment that arises from temporary factors such as switching between jobs. The notion that there could not be enough jobs for everyone is absurd. Think back to the desert island example: can we imagine that regardless of whether there is one person or many people on the island that they could ever run out of things to do to improve their standards of living? The same is true in our economy today. There are many more things needing to be done than we have people to do them. Most companies operating today, given available monetary capital, would expand production of what they are currently producing, or create new lines of businesses if only they had additional workers available to do this new work. And the more people we would have producing, the more things we could produce.
So then why is there unemployment? Primarily because some workers are prevented from working by having the cost of their labor fixed artificially high, above the market price, by law.[ref]And to a lesser degree by other labor laws such as those dictating maximum hours one can work as well as laws restricting the hiring and firing of workers, both of which are more intensely implemented and destructive in Western Europe and South America, where unemployment rates often reach over 20 percent.[/ref]This is done in two primary ways. The first way is by the existence of a minimum wage. As we learned earlier, workers are compensated based on the expected value of what they can produce. If the government prevents companies from hiring workers for less than a given wage, and if workers are not capable of contributing enough to company revenues to be able to cover the cost of their wages, they will not be hired. If a workers contribution to production brings in $5 of company revenues per hour, then paying the worker $7 per hour will mean a loss of $2 per hour to the company. Such workers will thus be left out of the workforce because they are unprofitable.
One might counter-argue that companies should pay a minimum hourly wage of $7 simply in order for the worker to survive given the cost of living. This argument will be addressed later in the section on poverty. It could also be argued that companies could pay more to workers by paying the difference out of profit, or by raising their prices. Neither of these is possible. As was explained earlier, businesses pay the maximum amount they can afford to pay for both labor and physical capital. Paying more will cut into the capitalists™ returns, or eliminate their profit altogether, which will drive them away toward other ventures; the entire company could thus go under (not to mention that companies must reinvest much of their profit in order to produce next years goods). Similarly, businesses cannot raise their prices to pay for higher labor costs. If they were able to raise prices at all, they would have already done so simply to make a higher profit. Businesses charge as much as the market will bear given a particular amount of money in the economy; if they charge more, they will make less money because demand will drop. Businesses across the entire economy will only raise prices if there is an increase in the quantity of money in the economy”i.e., the government prints more money. The current discussion is based on a fixed quantity of money in the economy at a given time.
If companies charge more, people will purchase a lower dollar amount (higher price times a lower overall quantity purchased). If companies charge less, their customers will purchase a higher dollar amount (lower price times a higher overall quantity purchased). Which way is optimal? Companies charge an amount that maximizes the total revenue they receive based on a price/quantity mix that results in the highest amount of revenue. If they charge more than the optimal amount, the total dollar amount of goods purchased by customers at that particular price/quantity level will be lower than the total dollar amount purchased at the optimal point possessing a lower price and higher quantity.
As an example, consider a theoretical burger joint where the owner is wondering whether raising prices would make it possible to pay more to the workers. Figure 1.4 reveals the different amounts of revenues that would result from various prices of hamburger plates.
Lowering the prices of each burger plate results in more burger plates sold. Raising the prices of each burger plate results in fewer burger plates sold. We can see that this owners optimal price to charge for a burger plate is $5.10. Charging more than this will result in lower revenues because the increase in price causes customers to buy fewer burger plates. Charging less than $5.10 will also result in lower revenues because even though the lower price leads to greater volume, it also means that fewer total dollars make it into the till. This example shows us that if the restaurant owner tried to charge more in order to pay workers more, the entire restaurant would lose business. The likely result would be the laying off of at least one worker in order to maintain profitability.
The minimum wage can help no one except those remaining workers who receive increased pay at the expense of the ones let go. Ultimately, having a minimum wage harms those it purports to help. But its more than ineffectual; its damaging. Those who are hurt the most are those with the lowest productivity”younger, less educated, inexperienced workers. Every time the minimum wage is increased, unemployment rates rise for this group, particularly for black, male teenagers. Further, as unskilled labor becomes too expensive to hire, businesses find it cheaper to replace labor with technology (automation, etc.). This is a primary reason why, for the most part, we no longer have many gas station attendants, maids or doormen.
Most economists, free market-oriented or not, do not support minimum wage: its one of the few topics nearly all agree on. Those who do support the minimum wage usually do so for ideological or political reasons. The ideological reasons are based on emotions, not economic facts. The political reasons are obvious: to most politicians it seems not to matter whether they truly help or harm citizens. What is important to politicians is to be perceived as helping people. When Congress approves minimum wage legislation after hearing testimony from economists, most, if not all, of them voting in favor of it must surely be aware that the law will not help workers. The only explanation seems to be that they pass the law simply to look good to constituents who dont understand the harm done.
In his 1993 textbook,[ref]Joseph E. Stiglitz, Economics (New York: W.W. Norton, 1993).[/ref] Joseph Stiglitz wrote detailed explanations of how minimum wages, which are a type of price floor, cause unemployment.
Yet after being appointed chairman of President Clintons Council of Economic Advisors (CEA), he suddenly changed his opinion and supported minimum wage legislation. Perhaps he did this to be seen a œteam player. President Clinton in turn said that he supported the legislation because his CEA supported it. Stiglitz, as leader of the CEA, pointed to the fact that a handful of economists had signed a petition in support of the legislation as the main reason that he had chosen to support it. In the end, this minority of economists all supported it simply because they all supported it.[ref]Vedran Vuk, Professor Stiglitz and the Minimum Wage (2006), https://mises.org/daily/2266.[/ref]
The economists who come up with obscure and often methodologically and theoretically questionable statistical studies that contradict most other studies on the minimum wage and conclude that increasing the cost of labor can somehow improve the lot of workers, are either ignorant of economics or are attempting to circumvent economic laws. Logic alone tells us that if the price of labor is raised above the value of its usefulness, there will be less of a demand for it. After all, if raising wages will help workers, then why not apply the minimum wage to everyone, and make the minimum wage $100 per hour? Or $1,000,000 per hour?[ref]Naturally, pro-minimum wage economists managed to come up with “studies†where numbers were manipulated to show that a low minimum wage is helpful, but a high minimum wage is not.[/ref] Our politicians do not do this because they know that most of us would then be unemployed. We will see in Chapter 6 that artificially high wage rates were the primary reason the Great Depression lasted so long, and why it even evolved from a simple recession into a depression.

Obamacare enrollments got off to very slow start, documents show
(CBS News) WASHINGTON – For 31 days now, the Obama administration has been telling us that Americans by the millions are visiting the new health insurance website, despite all its problems.
But no one in the administration has been willing to tell us how many policies have been purchased, and this may be the reason: CBS News has learned enrollments got off to an incredibly slow start.
Early enrollment figures are contained in notes from twice-a-day “war room” meetings convened within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services after the website failed on Oct. 1. They were turned over in response to a document request from the House Oversight Committee.
The website launched on a Tuesday. Publicly, the government said there were 4.7 million unique visits in the first 24 hours. But at a meeting Wednesday morning, the war room notes say “six enrollments have occurred so far.”
Americans who sign up for insurance on the state exchanges may not have access to the nation’s top hospitals, Watchdog.org reports.

The Obama Administration has been claiming that insurance companies will be competing for your dollars under the Affordable Care Act, but apparently they haven’t surveyed the nation’s top hospitals.
Americans who sign up for Obamacare will be getting a big surprise if they expect to access premium health care that may have been previously covered under their personal policies. Most of the top hospitals will accept insurance from just one or two companies operating under Obamacare.
“This doesn’t surprise me,” said Gail Wilensky, Medicare advisor for the second Bush Administration and senior fellow for Project HOPE. “There has been an incredible amount of focus on the premium cost and subsidy, and precious little focus on what you get for your money.”
Regulations driven by the Obama White House have indeed made insurance more affordable – if, like Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, you’re looking only at price. But responding to Obamacare caps on premiums, many insurers will, in turn, simply offer top-tier doctors and hospitals far less cash for services rendered.
Watchdog.org looked at the top 18 hospitals nationwide as ranked by U.S. News and World Report for 2013-2014. We contacted each hospital to determine their contracts and talked to several insurance companies, as well.
A little history lesson on Halloween for the Christians who believe it’s a Pagan holiday

So since I can’t help myself… Lets have a little history lesson on Halloween for the Christians who believe it’s a Pagan holiday reserved for witches and devil worshippers (not saying any names to avoid the impending embarrassment that is surely heading your way)
Oh, and for those who think this Athiest can’t possible know anything about religion lets just add this little tidbit: I was raised Catholic, have read the bible all the way through many times, have done extensive research and am well versed on many religions, (and yes this does include Wiccan). I am not one to tell anyone they are wrong for their religious views, unless of course they are wrong based on fact and plain common sense. So, lets have a history lesson, shall we? I think we all could use one.
Halloween falls on the eve of the Christian holy days of All Hallow’s Day and All Saints Day. the days are collectively known as Hallowmas. Like many other major “holidays” in Christianity, celebrations begin the night before. This includes All Hallow’s which is where Halloween got its name from: Hallow’s Eve.
Hallowmas is used to honor the saints and to pray for recently departed souls who haven’t reached Heaven yet. It was customary for people, known as criers, to dress in black and ring a bell to call on Christians to remember departed souls. The custom of trick or treating came from the Christian custom of “souling”. Children would go door to door collecting “soul cakes” as means of praying for souls stuck in purgatory. During Hallowmas, Churches that were too poor to have displayed relics of saints allowed parishioners to dress up as martyred Saints as a way to honor them.
In many countries of Europe, Christians believe that once a year the souls return for a party known as the “danse macabre” which is actually depicted in decor on the walls of many churches and cemeteries. This is where the custom of modern day costume parties originates.
Halloween was (and still is) celebrated to honor the Saints and the souls of the deceased. In many countries children dress as departed Saints and other biblical figures.
Yes there are some Christians (nonconformist protestants in particular) who at one point believed that the spirits who returned were evil since they believed in predestination therefore redefining Hallow’s Eve without purgatory. Their homes and barns were blessed to protect themselves from evil spirits and the witches that were thought to accompany them.
My history lesson on “witches” and Wiccan religion will have to be another time. That being said, as with anything in life, things can be twisted to reflect your own personal beliefs or changed completely. Excellent example would be the Swastika which, up until Hitler got his hands on it, represented life and good luck. Hallowmas didn’t have a negative connotation until the Protestants tweaked it to coincide with their own beliefs.
Halloween was and still is a Christian holiday.
That concludes our history lesson. Be sure to hand out the big candy bars to the pagan children running the streets worshipping the devil.
Community Relations Advisory Board of Ridgewood and Glen Rock begins campaign

A local outreach project several years in the making was designed to curb a social dilemma that has seemingly plagued generation upon generation.
Members of the Community Relations Advisory Board of Ridgewood and Glen Rock officially kick-started their campaign against bullying last Wednesday, with group leaders unveiling the centerpiece of the initiative: a thought-provoking poster demanding respect for one another.
Titled “Respect: Give It to Get It,” the poster, as well as a postcard-sized version, were produced over the course of the past year and combined the ideas and efforts of all board members. Each component of the design, from the interlocking grip of the Roman handshake to the advice and statistics compiled on the backside of the card, was meticulously selected for the poster.

New security issues surface as Health and Human Services chief testifies

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama’s embattled top health official declared herself accountable Wednesday for failures of the much-maligned health insurance website as a newly surfaced government memo pointed to security concerns that were laid out just days before its launch.
Despite the problems, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius defended the health care overhaul, the signature legislative accomplishment of Obama’s first term. She said the website problems will be fixed by Nov. 30 and gaining health insurance will make a positive difference in the lives of millions of Americans.
The website HealthCare.gov was still experiencing outages, even as Sebelius was testifying to the House Energy and Commerce Committee that “I’m responsible.” And she faced a new range of questions about an internal memo from her department that revealed the troubled website was granted a temporary security certificate on Sept. 27, just four days before it went live on Oct. 1.
The memo, obtained by The Associated Press, said incomplete testing created uncertainties that posed a potentially high security risk for the website. It called for a six-month “mitigation” program, including ongoing monitoring and testing.
Republicans opposed to Obama’s health care law are calling for Sebelius to resign. She apologized to people having trouble signing up but told the committee that the technical issues that led to frozen screens and error messages are being cleared up on a daily basis.
Security issues raise major new concerns on top of the long list of technical problems the administration is grappling with.
President of Concerned Residents of Ridgewood opponents of Valley Hospital expansion makes presentation

Residents who oppose The Valley Hospital’s plan to nearly double in size erupted in a standing ovation Tuesday night when the president of their group was finally given the chance to voice their concerns about the expansion to the Planning Board.
“We are seven years into this and we are discussing a proposal that increases above grade “bulk” from around 400,000 square feet to 1 million square feet,” said Pete McKenna. “This applicant is running a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week business operation in the middle of a residential neighborhood. It is incompatible with its surroundings and it impacts the quality of life every day.”
Opponents had been increasingly frustrated that they had not had a chance to speak in three previous board meetings, which were either cut short or delayed with objections and questions by Valley’s attorney.
On Tuesday night McKenna and two other members of Concerned Residents of Ridgewood, Melinda Wagner and Marc Harris, told the Planning Board it should not be deciding whether the traffic plan is sufficient or if the construction schedule can be set to work around the hours of the school next to the hospital. Rather, they said, the board should be considering whether the hospital should nearly double in size on its 15-acre site in the middle of a residential neighborhood.
“The Planning Board never felt it appropriate to start by challenging the premise of expansion,” Harris said. “It started at the applicants’ conclusion….and then we began a decade-long journey of traffic, construction, impact and other endless statistical data dumps.”

Claims about chemical are wrong

When I read, “Expert: chemical level safe” (The Ridgewood News; Oct. 18; page A1), I wondered how this PSE&G-paid “expert” could provide such erroneous information. The chemical he likened to aspirin, pentachlorophenol (PCP), is described by the EPA as “extremely toxic to humans.” Twenty-six countries ban its use. So does the U.S., though an exception is made here for utility poles. A Cornell University study concluded that ‘”PCP is a very toxic compound…Skin penetration is the most dangerous route of exposure, but inhalation or ingestion of PCP may also cause toxicity. There are about 50 known cases of poisoning from PCP containing herbicides, molluscicides or wood preservatives, 30 of which have resulted in death.”The article continues: “Prolonged exposure to PCP by humans may result in adverse reproductive effects that are associated with changes in the endocrine gland function and other changes in the body (immunological dysfunction).”
Ridgewood couple creates app for educators

When Hawes School teacher Andy Raupp used an electronic tablet app to give one of his fifth grade students a “red light” – not the best score – for his cooperation skills, the boy decided to make a change.
“He said, ‘Mr. Raupp, we just want to let you know that we’re cooperating now, and we’re being much nicer to each other,'” the teacher recalled. “That had been the catalyst for one child to set an individual goal for that group to cooperate more … I’m not going to show them ‘You have all red for this,’ but when it’s appropriate.”
It was a big victory for Andy and fellow Hawes teacher Ellen Raupp – who is also his wife. The couple recently invented the app, named Chronicle, which helps teachers gauge student progress.
Andy will give a presentation on the app to Ridgewood teachers at a district Professional Development Day in November. He and his wife co-founded Powerhouse Education and hope to offer more teaching tools in the future.

Ridgewood NJ, Last night, the Ridgewood Board of Education — the elected leaders of our school system — weighed in on Valley Hospital’s plan to double in size right next to Benjamin Franklin Middle School. Their verdict: they are fine with a 94 foot tall, 1,000,000 square foot hospital standing 40 feet from the BF property line. That’s right: BOE president Sheila Brogan said it. When asked if the BOE was “ok” with a building that big being next to BF she answered, “yes.” The BOE also believes that, despite 10 years of construction, the BF student’s experience won’t be diminished, and will be equal to the GW student’s experience. Really?
The BOE members are the overseers of our children’s education, and the
stewards of the BF property. Despite the moral, legal, and fiduciary
responsibilities that come with those roles, they didn’t stand up and say
what is so plainly obvious — that the Valley amendment poses clear and
substantial risk, with zero benefit, to the school children of Ridgewood.
For those who missed the Planning Board meeting last night, the BOE, as they
did in 2009, “advised” the Planning Board by submitting a wish list of
“developer’s agreement” conditions. Those are terms that are effective once
the project is approved, and pertain only during the construction phase of
the project. But as the BOE members know full well, they have no power to
impose any of those conditions, which begs this fundamental question; what
protection did the BOE give our school children at last night’s meeting? The
answer is that the BOE put our children in greater danger. Once again their
“neutrality” will be viewed by this Planning Board as acquiescence, which
will make it easier for the Planning Board to approve this project.
Shamefully, our BOE not only failed to protect our children tonight, they
made matters worse.
10% in N.J. may be forced to switch health coverage

One in 10 New Jerseyans will need to change their health coverage over the next year under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, industry experts say, despite repeated assurances from the Obama administration that those who liked their current plan could keep it.
Their policies currently do not include all of the health benefits required by the new law, such as pediatric dental and vision care, and had to be redesigned and repriced before the main part of the law takes effect in January.
Governor Christie added his voice to the mounting criticism from Republicans on Tuesday, saying that “people weren’t told the truth” about the Affordable Care Act.
“They were told they would be able to keep their policies if they liked them,” he said in an interview with “CBS This Morning.” “Now you hear hundreds of thousands of people across the country being told they couldn’t. The White House needs to square that with what was told to the American people and told to the Congress beforehand.”
About 150,000 New Jersey residents who buy their own insurance and 650,000 who get coverage through businesses with fewer than 50 workers have learned — or will learn over the next year — that they need to choose another option, said Ward Sanders, president of the New Jersey Association of Health Plans.

As pundits and politicians dissect the carnage of ObamaCare, a serious question demands an honest answer: At what point did the president know his plan to nationalize one-sixth of the national economy was not ready for the October 1 launch?
If, as he pleads with every controversy swirling around his administration, he did not know, his incompetency demands his removal from office.
But it is inconceivable that Barack Obama would not know the status of his signature legislation, his very legacy.
He knew, and he had a duty to his country to delay the launch, as so many had called him to do.
But this is a man who does not understand civility. He did the opposite.
He allowed a partial shutdown of the federal government in order to harm the credibility of his Republican critics.
Worse, his administration deliberately harmed American citizens in what can only be described as a rampant abuse of power.
Be Cautious for Deer on Roads – DOT Encourages Reporting of Troubled Spots
The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is urging motorists to be alert for white-tailed deer on roads across the state with the arrival of the fall breeding season, especially during morning and evening commutes when visibility may be poor and deer are more active.
Drivers should be extra alert to avoid collisions that could result in injuries and damage to their vehicles, as deer movements related to breeding have begun and will pick up in the coming weeks. Motorists are encouraged to alert the Department of Transportation of dead deer they find along the state highway system and deer crossing locations. Triggered by shorter days and cooler weather, deer disperse and move around considerably as they search for mates. Studies indicate the peak mating season for deer in New Jersey runs from late October, throughout November, and into mid-December in all regions of the state, beginning earliest in northern regions.
The danger is particularly pronounced at dawn and dusk when many people are commuting to and from work. Visibility resulting from low light or sun glare may be difficult during these times. Commuters should be especially alert and drive with additional caution when daylight saving time ends on Nov. 3. Normal driver commuting times will more closely align with peak deer activity periods after this time.
The following tips are offered to help motorists stay safe:
If you spot a deer, slow down and pay attention to possible sudden movement. If the deer doesn’t move, don’t go around it. Wait for the deer to pass and the road is clear.
Pay attention to “Deer Crossing” signs. Slow down when traveling through areas known to have a high concentration of deer so you will have ample time to stop if necessary.
If you are traveling after dark, use high beams when there is no oncoming traffic. High beams will be reflected by the eyes of deer on or near roads.
If you see one deer, be on guard: others may be in the area. Deer typically move in family groups at this time of year and cross roads single-file. Female deer are being chased by bucks and during breeding phase are often unaware of traffic.
Don’t tailgate. Remember: the driver in front of you might have to stop suddenly to avoid hitting a deer.
Always wear a seatbelt, as required by law. Drive at a safe and sensible speed, taking into account weather, available lighting, traffic,
curves and other road conditions.
If a collision appears inevitable, do not swerve to avoid impact. The deer may counter-maneuver suddenly. Brake appropriately, but stay in your lane. Collisions are more likely to become fatal when a driver swerves to avoid a deer and instead collides with oncoming traffic or a fixed structure along the road.
Report any deer-vehicle collision to a local law enforcement agency immediately.
