Unlikely the trend reverses given all the $ being funneled to random facility projects like back up boilers, HVAC and performing arts center (which in the latest iteration is much bigger and costlier). ICE Posts Record Year for Criminal Arrests

Washington DC, During the fiscal year 2019 (FY19), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) effectively combated transnational criminal threats against the United States resulting in a record-breaking number of criminal arrests. HSI is the principal investigative component of the Department of Homeland Security with more than 9,800 employees, including over 6,700 special agents and 700 intelligence analysts, assigned to more than 210 cities throughout the U.S. as well as 78 offices in 52 countries. HSI investigates a multitude of crimes including: financial crimes, bulk cash smuggling, cybercrimes, exploitation of children and child sex tourism, weapons smuggling and export enforcement, trade crimes such as commercial fraud and intellectual property theft, human smuggling and trafficking, narcotics smuggling and trafficking, identity and benefit fraud, human rights violations, transnational gang activity, counterterrorism and visa security.

Ridgewood NJ, Law enforcement officials from the Village of Ridgewood will be cracking down on drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs as part of the annual end of year “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” statewide campaign. Beginning December 6, 2019 and continuing through January 1, 2020, local and state law enforcement officials will conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints looking for motorists who may be driving while intoxicated.

Twp. of Washington Gets New Police Chief

Twp of Washington  NJ, after extensive interviews with ranking officers the search committee has recommended Captain Skinner be appointed the next Chief of Police for the Twp of Washington .. Rich Skinner is a 26 year veteran of the department and a Captain since 2018. He holds an undergraduate degree in Public Administration and masters of Administrative Science both from Fairleigh Dickenson University. Captain Skinner served in the US Marines Corps and holds manny police training certifications. Rich is a Former DARE officer and volunteered as a youth baseball and football coach in the township.

At the same time, Lt John Calamari was promoted to the rank of Captain. Calamari is also a 26 year veteran of the department.

Majority of CPAs Do Not Favor a State-Run Bank in New Jersey

ROSELAND NJ, The majority of certified public accountants (CPAs) in a New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJCPA) survey in November, or 85 percent of the 489 members who responded, do not like the idea of having a public bank in New Jersey. The survey was conducted in response to Governor Murphy setting up a 14-member Public Bank Implementation Board (Executive Order No. 91) to develop a plan for such an endeavor within one year.

Good Samaritans aid Pedestrian Struck by Car in Oradell

Oradell NJ, the Oradell Police report that on 11/30/19 at 6:11pm a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Ridgewood Ave and Kinderkamack Rd. The injured party suffered lacerations to his head as well as other impact injuries. We would like to thank Oradell resident Pete Yotka and New York resident Daniel Ruggini who stopped to render aid prior to Police arrival. The injured party was transported to Hackensack University Hospital Trauma Center for treatment.

We would also like to remind pedestrians to do their best to increase visibility. We suggest wearing reflective materials, bright-colored clothes and to utilize the pedestrian flags and lights.
