The shocking events unfolded just after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday night near milepost 121.2 in Leonia, Bergen County. According to police, traffic had come to a standstill when a vehicle crashed into the back of a white Acura with a New York license plate.
What should have been a standard exchange of insurance information quickly took a dark turn. Two men from the striking vehicle got out of their car, armed with a handgun. The suspects, described as two Black males, began to assault the two Hispanic men in the Acura. In a terrifying escalation, they fired at least one round at the Acura before getting back into their own car and fleeing the scene.
The victims were able to escape, and no serious injuries were reported. However, the experience left them shaken and serves as a stark warning about the unpredictable nature of road-related conflicts.
Police Search for Suspects
New Jersey State Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the two men responsible for this brazen act of violence.
