Trenton NJ, A major system glitch at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) led to the improper voter registration of roughly 6,600 non-U.S. citizens between June 2023 and June 2024, state officials announced Tuesday.

The issue stems from a software error in the automated registration system, reigniting intense political debate over state election security, voter registration procedures, and oversight.

How the Software Error Occurred

Under New Jersey law, individuals applying for driver’s licenses or state ID cards at local MVC offices can complete voter registration prompts.

According to Governor Mikie Sherrill, applicants were explicitly asked whether they were U.S. citizens on a digital keypad. Even when individuals selected “No,” a system processing error improperly added them to state voter rolls.

“These individuals answered ‘no’ when asked on a keypad whether they were a U.S. citizen when applying for drivers’ licenses and identification cards, but through no fault of their own, the system registered them anyway,” Governor Sherrill said in a statement.

Election Impact and Official Response

State election officials noted the following key facts regarding the error:

  • Timeframe: The error occurred between June 2023 and June 2024, under the previous administration of former Governor Phil Murphy.

  • Voter Turnout: Supposably fewer than 400 of the improperly registered individuals cast ballots, an amount officials noted was unlikely to impact election outcomes across the state.

  • State Investigation: An internal investigation is underway, with state officials promising accountability for any MVC personnel or contractors responsible for system oversights.

Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell, who oversees elections as Secretary of State, emphasized the state’s commitment to election integrity while noting that prior administrative oversight failed to catch the system bug sooner.

Political Fallout & Debate

The announcement has triggered swift political reactions across party lines:

  • State Leadership: Current administration officials moved quickly to publicize the issue, order a full forensic review, and correct voter roll inaccuracies.

  • Election Integrity Concerns: Critics argue the incident highlights serious vulnerabilities in automatic voter registration systems linked to motor vehicle licensing.

  • Partisan Disputes: Debate continues nationwide regarding the intersection of driver’s license access, automatic voter registration, and safeguards against non-citizen voting. Looks like President Trump was right again.

Key Takeaways

  • Cause: Technical software glitch in the NJ MVC voter registration keypad system.

  • Scope: ~6,600 non-citizens registered; supposably under 400 ballots cast statewide.

  • Current Status: Investigation active; voter rolls are being corrected by state authorities.

    1. Phil Murphy and the software developers who rigged the software need to be in jail, as well as every Democrat ill-ection denier

  3. When did they learn of the “glitch” and what did they do to fix it?

  4. Before everybody starts handing out “attagirls” for Sherrill’s dog and pony show, this dyed in the wool left wing deutsche (SIC) bag is only coming clean because NJ faces the threat of millions of dollars in federal funding being withheld from this state, rife with illegal voters, and illegal invaders who are being protected by Sherrill’s sanctuary policies. 6600 is a drop in the bucket and she knows it. NJ should suffer the full consequences of not only registering illegals to vote, but for harboring and using NJ taxpayer dollars to serve and protect them from being deported.

  5. “Software Glitch”, LoL!

The problem isn’t the ones that voted already…it’s the bank of 6200 (that they are admitting to) registered names that the democrats have ready to go when they need to create fake mail-ins.

  6. Illegals don’t intentionally vote. They live under the radar. What this is, is a coordinated project by Democrat operatives. And as for the Governor’s announcement, she did it as this story was going to get leaked and she wanted to control the narrative.

  7. Let’s clarify, the Motor Voter Act which is how this even came to be specifically states “no proof of citizenship required when registering to vote”. That said, unless an election is contested (less than 1% difference) or the non citizen is turned in (your voting record is public knowledge) millions of noncitizens have been voting since Bill Clinton signed the Motor Voter Act – in fact it was his very first piece of legislation he signed upon entering office precisely for this very reason.

The rallying cry to get them to vote is: NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN PROSECUTED FOR VOTER FRAUD and not, that it isn’t in fact rampant!

New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the Nation with over ten million residents, of which there also over one million noncitizens!

Does anyone really believe only 400 noncitizens accidentally voted when there have also been one million newly registered voters between 2017 – 2025?

It gets even more nefarious. Governor Murphy knew he would never win re-election in 2022 after implementing his draconian laws during Covid. Instead he deliberately got rid of the Bergen County Superintendent of Election who had been there for over 25 years and installed Loretta Weinbergs Chief of Staff who had no experience at all. The former Superintendent was also a Republican, her replacement a staunch Democrat.

Why did this matter? Because Bergen County has the most registered voters, nearly one million. The Superintendent, job duties included Voter Registration, Poll Books, Voting Machines and, and, and any and all reports of voter fraud.

Murphy made sure he got rid of the former Superintendent even before the primary and refused to announce and appoint his personal choice until after the election in November. Thankfully the media got wind of it and he was forced to announce the appointment immediately. Needless to say he wound up winning re-election

Nothing to see here though either.

  8. No. This does not mean that the president was right.
