Ridgewood, NJ – Big news for local tennis enthusiasts! This week, the Somerville Tennis Courts in Ridgewood are getting a full resurfacing, bringing a fresh new look and improved playability to one of the community’s most popular recreational spots.

The resurfacing process involves applying a new layer of specialized material over the existing court surface. This not only restores the courts’ appearance but also improves safety, ball bounce, and overall playing conditions. Experts recommend tennis court resurfacing every 3–7 years, depending on usage and wear, although it’s unclear when the Somerville Tennis Courts were last upgraded.

Village officials thanked residents and players for their patience and understanding while the work is being completed. Once finished, the updated courts will provide a safer, smoother, and more enjoyable experience for players of all ages and skill levels.

The improvements come as part of Ridgewood’s ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance community recreation facilities, ensuring that residents can enjoy quality sports amenities for years to come.

    2. Because a council member who lives close by probably doesn’t want the noise it brings but the rest of the town can suffer.

  2. Can they add a pickle court?
