Violent 3-Car Crash on Route 46 in Teterboro Traps Driver, Triggers Multi-Agency Rescue Response

TETERBORO, NJ — A high-speed, multi-vehicle crash on Route 46 in Teterboro sent at least three people to the hospital and required an extensive extrication effort by firefighters from multiple surrounding departments around 6:00 p.m. yesterday evening.
Witnesses reported seeing an Infiniti M35x traveling at high speeds while recklessly driving on the shoulder and median of Route 46. Near the Huyler Street intersection, the Infiniti slammed into a Cadillac Escalade with such force that it launched the Escalade directly into a Maserati in a violent chain-reaction collision.
Fast Response to Heavy Entrapment
The Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department (HHFD) was dispatched to the scene following reports of a motor vehicle accident with heavy entrapment. Upon arrival, Chief 61 confirmed that a driver was severely trapped inside the wreckage and immediately transmitted a 10-30 call for additional support.
Emergency crews executed a coordinated effort to save the trapped driver:

Mutual Aid Rescue: The Little Ferry Fire Department was called for specialized rescue equipment, while the South Hackensack Fire Department provided an engine on scene.

Synchronized Extrication: Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department Squad 1 and the Little Ferry Rescue unit arrived simultaneously, working quickly to cut open the vehicle and carefully extricate the injured motorist.

EMS Transfer: The driver was successfully freed and transferred to EMS personnel before being transported to a local hospital alongside two other injured individuals.
Simultaneous Calls & Regional Coverage
While emergency crews were operating on Route 46, HHFD was simultaneously dispatched to Oak Grove for reports of smoke coming from a residence. Firefighters arriving at the scene determined the source was an active backyard fire pit.
To ensure uninterrupted protection for Hasbrouck Heights during the major crash operation, a Wood-Ridge Fire Department engine stood by at the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department firehouse for borough coverage.
