The Ridgewood Water Department in Village Hall has closed. The move to a new building has allowed most of Ridgewood Water to be consolidated into one building, allowing for efficiency and collaboration. Later this fall, there will be an open house, in order to give all residents and customers of Ridgewood Water an opportunity to see the new building.

No word on when the perpetual Stage 2 Water emergency will end ?

  1. A lot of people seem to think they are special and allowed to water their lawns

  2. What a waste of money. They told us that if tax dollars had not been used to purchase the former Elks Club, a “developer” would have purchased the property and turned it into low income housing. What a crock of shit.

  3. Nancy Greene must be furious. She wanted that property so, so badly.

  4. Such BS
Town renovated that property to house s building for our poisonous water supply

    1. It’s far from poisonous. Where did you get your expertise in drinking water toxicology and/or risk assessment from? ‘Cause you obviously don’t know a damn thing about during water standards and guidelines.

The Water Department was “consolidated” and moved out of Village Hall to give the RPD more space.

  5. Anyone know the final cost of the building (purchase plus renovation) vs. initial plan?

  6. A good. 3 million.

  7. Yea like the home down the block from me with that fake sign in front of their house that says private well water.
Yea hello! We all know that is bull shit.

    1. private well water.

That comes form the same place that Ridgewood water comes from…..

Sort of like connecting your house just before the electric meter……

Sort of like “oh, it’s NOT salt, it’s SEA SALT.” (Once said to me by a now dead health nut)

  8. Yes, and they took the property off the tax rolls. The gift that keeps on giving.

  9. Hook up to Suez, or supplement, and these restrictions could be eased, or eliminated. We would have saved the million $$ to renovate a Ridgewood Water ‘Headquarters’. Politicians need to look at what best serves the citizens, not what builds a legacy for themselves or their campaign contributors, and friends. A first-class town with a third-rate water department. Can’t make this stuff up.

    1. You really don’t want to hook up to Suez. They supply drinking water from open surface sources which require greater treatment and disinfectant. You would notice much more chlorine in Suez Water compared to Ridgewood. And Ridgewood Water supply, being an aquifer is far less vulnerable to acts of terrorism. Seriously, you do not want Suez. You DO want Ridgewood to increase storage capacity (there is plenty of water, just inadequate infrastructure to deliver). Just get the NIMBYS to agree to a new water tower (for shot down by west siders last time Ridgewood wanted to improve service . . .

      1. smell the water when you turn on the tap. they already buy that shit tasting surface water to supplement the lacking infrastructure of the current wells

  10. You don’t want to know.
    Why?
    BECAUSE YOUR RICH AND STUPID

    1. *You’re*, genius.

      1. correct!
This is what happens when some yahoo steals my RICH and STUPID catchphrase.
Oh well… the price of success.

  11. It’s called dirty politics. 101’

  12. And how much money did the water department receive in water grant money from the government. I’m sure it was big money. Good for them. At least they’re revamping the whole water department. If they ever want to sell it it’s gonna be worth big money now. For years they weren’t spending any money.

  13. People need to know that we are in a drought. It’s amazing How many people water their lawns every day. They just don’t care. And no rain in sight. All next week very hot and dry. Wake up.

  14. Seriously, how is it people with the green lawns are not embarrassed by it. All the healthy lawns have not gotten that way by “well water” Whats the big deal – so your lawn is brown this year just like most others – its grass!

  15. Trees, bushes are dying due to this prolonged drought. What’s a homeowner to do? Grass I really don’t care, but I can’t let my $$$ and hard work to plant and care for my sanctuary go to waste. I will water as much as I can, I am not stealing anyone’s property. Some neighbors have allowed their landscape to deteriorate and obliterate and don’t bother to at least cleanup but in their mind they are saving the earth by conserving water. While letting trees and evergreens die? The idiocy has no limits. It takes 5-10 years to get a 10-15 feet solid evergreen privacy screen. How can you not care!!!!
Those residents who obey by water schedule and take care of their property, I tip my hat to them.
