Closter NJ, Stern and Bow, the renowned seafood-centric restaurant known for its daily celebration of oysters, is thrilled to announce a four-day long oyster extravaganza in honor of National Oyster Day, which is August 5. From Friday, August 2 – Sunday, August 4, and resuming on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 (with a break on Monday when the restaurant is closed), guests can indulge in a variety of delicious oyster dishes, and enjoy half price raw oysters, wine and martinis during Happy Hour from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
Home to a world-class oyster bar that offers eight to twelve types of pristine oysters daily, Stern and Bow is set to delight seafood lovers with oyster specials and unique preparations during the festive event. Guests can dive into a treasure trove of wood-fired, roasted, deep-fried, and ice cold premium raw oysters available, for dinner, lunch and brunch:
Fried Oysters – Panko-crusted fried oysters
with housemade tartar of aioli, pickles, capers,
and fresh herbs (five oysters, $25)
Spanish Oysters – Wood-fire-roasted oysters
with Spanish chorizo, panko bread crumbs,
and bell peppers (five oysters, $25)
Oyster Po’Boy Sandwich – Fried oysters with
lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, housemade tarter
on a brioche bun, served with French fries

Oysters Rockefeller – Wood-fire-roasted
oysters with cream of spinach, parmesan,
pecorino and white wine (five oysters, $25).
Oyster Shooter – Stern and Bow signature East Coast oyster, served in a shot glass, with Kettle One Vodka, Love Potion hot sauce, lime and an Old Bay seasoned rim ($8).
The assortment includes eight to fourteen varieties of hand-shucked, iced oysters from the East and West Coasts, served on the half shell ($3.50 – $4.50 per oyster, or half-price during Happy Hour 4:00 – 6:00 pm).
When the restaurant opened almost five years ago, master oyster sommelier Kevin Joseph of Empire Oysters, developed the restaurant’s oyster program, carefully curating the country’s most coveted oysters. Said Owner Russell Stern, “The heart of Stern and Bow has always been our pristine, expansive raw bar. We take immense pride in meticulously hand-selecting our offerings from around the country, ensuring we always serve the most incredibly fresh and best oysters, from both the East and West coasts. Stern and Bow is a casual, American eatery featuring eclectic, regional dishes, accented with seafood specialties. The 155 seat restaurant includes three separate bars – a raw bar, wood-fired pizza bar and full service liquor bar – each with its own experience. Titled after the restaurateur’s Russell Stern’s last name and parts of a boat, Stern and Bow offers everything from custom-blend burgers, dry-aged steaks and seafood dishes, to artisanal pastas, wood-fired pizza and housemade desserts. A standout feature of the restaurant is a premier raw bar which includes an icy trove filled with an array of top-notch shellfish, raw and cooked, including a vast daily selection of East and West Coast oysters, clams, lobster, shrimp, crab legs and more.
