Elmwood Park NJ, Elmwood Park detectives are currently investigating the theft of two vehicles, which were discovered being dismantled on a borough street early Saturday morning.
At approximately 2:32 a.m., Elmwood Park Police Department received a report of suspicious activity in the vicinity of 19 Wallace Street, where individuals were observed removing parts from several vehicles. Upon arrival, officers found two motor vehicles in the process of being disassembled.
A perimeter was established by the Elmwood Park Police Department, and a thorough search of the area was conducted with the assistance of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and the Saddle Brook Police Department.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the stolen vehicles originated from separate residences on Miller and Lee streets. Various parts, including engines, doors, and airbags, were recovered from the vehicles and found inside a white Chevy cargo van nearby. The van, registered to Hazleton, Pennsylvania, with a fraudulent temporary registration, was impounded pending a search warrant. The recovered stolen vehicles were transported to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit in Hackensack for further processing.
As of now, no suspects have been apprehended. Individuals with any information pertaining to this incident are urged to contact the Elmwood Park Police Department.
